(Stay with me, folks, because I have the inside scoop on SKYY Vodka.)

NewsMax.com has picked up the story here.

But first, check this out. SKYY Vodka responds to Absolut’s reconquista ad campaign:

SKYY® Vodka, Made in the USA, Proudly Supports Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo

America’s Most-Popular Domestic Vodka Decries Absolut® Vodka’s Suggestion to Redraw North American Map

SAN FRANCISCO–(BUSINESS WIRE)–

In 1848, the Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo officially ended the Mexican-America War (1846-1848). With the signing of this treaty, the United States gained control of what was to become the Golden West, including California, Arizona, Utah, Nevada and parts of Colorado and New Mexico. Today, SKYY® Vodka, the number-one vodka produced in the United States, spoke out against suggestions by Absolut® Vodka to disregard that treaty, as well as the joining of Texas to the Union in 1845, as depicted in Absolut’s recent advertising.

“Like SKYY Vodka, the residents of states like California, Texas and Arizona are exceptionally proud of the fact that they are from the United States of America,” said Dave Karraker, SKYY Vodka. “To imply that they might be interested in changing their mailing addresses, as our competitor seems to be suggesting in their advertising, is a bit presumptuous.”

In the ad, an “Absolut World” is depicted where the map of North America is re-drawn with Mexico claiming much of the Western United States, negating the Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo, as well as the Gadsden Purchase (1853), and the independence of Texas (1836).

“Don’t get me started on the Gadsden Purchase,” continues Karraker. “I think the folks in Tucson and Yuma would be rubbed the wrong way if they hear this landmark deal was somehow nullified as suggested by Absolut, a Swedish-owned brand.”

SKYY Vodka was founded in San Francisco in 1992 and continues to be produced in the United States. Premium SKYY Vodka is made from American grain carefully selected from the Midwest and 100% pure filtered water. SKYY’s proprietary four-column distillation and three-step filtration process consistently ensures exceptional quality. SKYY Vodka products include luxury SKYY90® and new SKYY Infusions™, a unique, all-natural infused experience made with premium SKYY Vodka and succulent real fruit.

....So, who is behind SKYY Vodka, and why is this company being so vocal in a politically incorrect age?

Keep reading, and then go buy SKYY!

The man who founded SKYY Vodka is Maurice Kanbar. He is orginally from New York City, but moved to San Francisco during the 1960's.

Maurice wanted to create the 'perfect' martini. Kanbar loves martini's, and believes that one-a-day is great for your health.

But the martini hang-over was a problem that Kanbar decided to fix, so he put his big brain behind creating a vodka that would not create the yukky next-day-I-feel-so-sick problem.

He engineered a formula that worked. He patented it, and started SKYY Vodka.

Later, he sold the company for millions, but still has some influence there.

He has donated millions of dollars to charitable organizations and has created a film school in New York, contributed to Philadelphia University, is a successful film producer (Hoodwinked) and a member of Mensa.

His newest venture is a cheap scooter to get around our clogged streets in San Francisco without as much aggrevation as a bigger car, which gets taxed, er, ticketed by the local law all the time.

I'm having lunch with Maurice on Monday. We lunch together several times a year, and have for almost 10 years.

Maurice Kanbar is the biggest conservative you can imagine.

Maurice Kanbar has been a quiet supporter of my organization, Move America Forward, and many other causes that further conservative values. Maurice really gets especially riled about illegal immigration.

I would marry Maurice if a) I weren't already married and b) he was interested in marrying me.

So far, not so much. But, when we lunch, he never lets me pick-up the check.

So, hoist a martooni to Maurice! He deserves Michelle Malkin's accolades, and all conservatives everywhere.
