(CNSNews.com) – In an “open letter” to the president, liberal  filmmaker Michael Moore offers a list of items for Barack Obama  to tackle in his second term, urging him to “get some fight” and “drive  the rich right off their fiscal cliff.”

Published Monday on his website, the Moore congratulated Obama on his reelection  victory, but “respectfully” asked that his second term not resemble the  first.

“It's not that you didn't get anything done,” Moore said.  “You got A  LOT done. But there are some very huge issues that have been left  unresolved and, dammit, we need you to get some fight in you.

“Wall Street and the uber-rich have been conducting a bloody class  war for over 30 years and it's about time they were stopped,” he said.

Moore proposes a far-left agenda that includes letting the entire  Bush-era tax cuts expire: "Drive the rich right off their fiscal cliff,” Moore says.  “The ‘fiscal cliff’ is a ruse, an invention by the  Right and the rich, to try and keep their huge tax breaks,” he said.   “On December 31, let ALL the tax cuts expire.”

Gen. David Petraeus is just the most recent in a long line of powerful  men to cheat on their wives. From former California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger  to New York Gov. But why exactly do powerful men cheat? And why did Petraeus throw away his  position as director of the CIA and tarnish a reputable  military career for another woman when the risk is so much greater than the  reward?

Conventional wisdom has it  that men in positions of power  have affairs because they can, and women engage in these affairs because they  are attracted to power. It’s been a week now since election 2012 and I still can’t get a grip on my gag reflex. Crouching toward socialism nationwide, breaking the backs of the middle class with taxes in California, and the sheeple’s turn against Democracy leaves more than a bad taste in my mouth. I’m also struggling with the whole fight-or-flight phenomenon. I’m usually a fighter but it’s hard to build up the energy with this ongoing gag reflex.

I know. I know. You’re probably saying “ Get over it”. The Founding Fathers got our back. They set up this beautiful experiment we call America with a lot of backbone. It’s going to take more than one hellish election to take us down.”

I say: “Easy for you to say – if you don’t live in California.”

While SEIU slugged back Kristal champagne as they dreamt of the next four years sleeping in the Lincoln Bedroom as Obama’s guests, we true working folks in California got a real treat. The liberals got a supermajority in the California Senate and, it appears, in the Legislature as well. This would be the first time in 80 years that the Democrats not only ruled the roost, but the whole stinking barnyard.

Californians were like a sinking ship of drowning gerbils that voted for more water as the tsunami sunk us. We said yes to taxes galore. In fact, we said yes to retroactive taxes. “Thank you sir, may I have another!” Just to make sure that we let the world know how much we love the government to abscond with our hard-earned money and spend it on bloated union wages, welfare and illegals, we gave the Democrats super power.

This means that the Republicans might as well stay home. They have nothing to say. More regulation such as cap and trade to drive more manufacturing jobs out of the state? No problem! How about more taxes – because retroactive taxes aren’t good enough? The Democrats are already eyeing the prize. (Can you see why that gag reflex haunts me?)

A supermajority also means the Democrats can override vetoes from Gov. Moonbeam (not that this is always a bad thing. I’d like to veto him, but let’s save that for another day.)

All of this explains my sour stomach. I’m not one to wallow in my grief, if that’s what you want to call it. I’m looking at my options. Fight or flight. What will it be?

Flight sounds attractive. While California was dropping into the crashing waves of the left coast, other states came through for Republicans. This isn’t to say they are conservatives, just Republicans. Most states are controlled by Republicans. The GOP has the governorship and both houses in 23 states. Democrats have the same advantage in only 14 states. Twelve states share power, according to the National Conference of State Legislatures. One states has nonpartisan rule..

 So there’s a lot of territory to explore without breathing the same air as a tax-loving, freedom-hating, socialist hugging Democratic majorities. Texas sounds good, though its weather can be brutal. Same with Idaho. I like the sweet tea in the South.

The more I think about it, the more I don’t like the idea of leaving the state or the country. I don’t have French in me, so throwing up the white surrender flag isn’t in my blood.

Did George Washington hang it up when his troops were dying and it looked like Armageddon? Did Abraham Lincoln turn tail when the Rebels whooped Union Troops in battles? Did our fighting men and women give up in Iraq when Harry Reid and his fellow traitors said America had lost” Hell no.

I’m not comparing myself to these great men. But I do have some fire left in me and this country and California are so worth the fight. What we need is a little creativity. Fight fire with fire.

California is known for its leftist ways. It’s also known for loving minorities, as it should. I say we take advantage of this. Conservatives are clearly a minority. It’s time to contact the unions, the ACLU, Code Pink in their vulva outfits, and other groups that fight for minorities. We can ask them to join hands with us (figuratively). We demand to be heard. We demand free stuff – or just tax cuts. And we demand that dead people stop voting in elections for the majority. Call it the Conservative Dream Act.

Once we get our foot in the door with our new friends, we can march on the Capitol. “Hey, hey, ho, ho, the taxing majority has got to go!” Maybe we can even get some sympathy with those vulva outfits. Conservative women can don the Code Pink body parts and talk about the real war on women. This is the war in which working women pay more in health care (as we do under Obamacare), fail to afford our children’s schooling, lose our jobs, our houses and our dignity (because we’re wearing those danged vulva outfits).

If the new Supermajority is sexist and against minority rights, then we have another out. It’s called Democracy. In two years we can begin to turn the tables. I know how this works. The idea of recalling former Gov. Gray Davis came out of a conversation on my radio show. We know how that ended for Davis.

With the Conservative Dream Act on our side, we can’t lose.

I can't say thank-you to our veterans enough. No one can. But we must try.

So thank-you to my grandfather Captain Harold Morgan, who served in BOTH World Wars, the first time with his buddy Harry Truman, as they fought with Battery D.

The second time he fought was in Italy, in World War II, while his son, my uncle, was killed on a bombing mission that took off from the white cliffs of Dover, England.

Thank-you to my father George Morgan, who served as an Army Lt. and to my brother Sgt. Mark Morgan, who fought in Panama as part of a special forces team.

Thank-you to my husband Jack Swanson, who was a Sgt. in the Army during the Vietnam war, and to my cousin Rodney Gibson, who served as a Commander in the Air Force. (We Morgan's choose to overlook that he picked Air Force over Army.)

I am beyond consumed by the David Petreaus affair, and subsequent fall-out. I am reading every detail that I can find, tweeting about it, booking guests for Monday morning at 11:00 Saturday night.

Why? Maybe it's because I know so many people who know the General. I worked quite hard in 2008 to defend Petreaus from the attacks by the Left who smeared an American hero by calling him "General Betrayus" when he was saving thousands of lives by creating the surge in Iraq. My group, Move America Forward, helped create counter advertisments and an orchestrated response to the hateful words coming from the Moveon.org crowd.

It's also because it has so many intriguing aspects to the story. An epic moment, a man for the times, the General who turned the war in Iraq from quagmire into a reasonably stable situation... to a adulterer who seems to have cracked apart by emailing his lover thousands of times, jeopardizing himself and his country.

Was there a SECOND affair? The FBI was brought into the investigation, allegedly, because another woman was recieving threatening emails from Paul Broadwell, who allegedly felt threatened by her "affection" for the CIA Director.

Who is David Petreaus?

Who knows? We can't know who he is or why he failed himself, his family and his country. Maybe at the end of the day, we can relate to a story of human frailty and pray for everyone involved.

 But the serious questions remain - what did President Obama know, and when did he know it? Did he throw Petreaus under the bus in order to cover his ass on Libya? What did Petreaus do, or NOT do the night that 4 Americans, including two of his CIA covert operatives, Ty Woods and Glen Doherty, who were murdered by Islamists in Benghazi.

There has got to be a movie in all of this. Angelina Jolie can play Paula Broadwell. But who will play her betrayed husband, who was apparently so shattered he reached out to a advice columnist in the NY Times?

11. Voters rejected tax hike ballot measures in Arizona, South Dakota, and Missouri.

12. Louisiana voted to protect gun rights.

13. Kentucky voted to protect hunting and fishing rights.

14. Parental notification for minors’ abortion prevailed in Montana.

15. North Carolina Republicans claimed the governor’s office, congressional gains, and control of the state’s general assembly.

16. Paul Ryan will return to Congress after winning re-election and continue to carry the torch for entitlement reform and budget discipline.

17. Conservatives won big victories in the Kansas state legislature.

18. Republicans won historic supermajorities in Tennessee.

19.Across the country, Republicans reached a post-2000 record number of gubernatorial victories.

20. Conservatives who were devastated by the national election results demonstrated how to lose with dignity and grace. There will be finger-pointing and recriminations and soul-searching, but committed activists can’t and won’t lose heart. We’ll regroup, recover, and keep fighting for our country.

In the Ohio county (Hamilton) referred to in the article, Obama receives 208,508
votes to Romney's 188,653 (51.8% to 46.9%) whereas the Democrat candidates in the
1st and 2nd district that compromises that county were blown out 58.3%-37.1% and

Further research would include Presidential election results by district that are I

The premise that I'm following here is that we are expected to believe that there
are an abundance of voters that would vote for a Presidential candidate from one
party and vote for a congressman from the opposing party. True there are those
voters but in this contentious election cycle, its' hard to believe that there are
in such huge numbers.

Dianne Feinstein noted that the electorate is sorely divided, but President Obama can claim a “mandate” that puts him in a strong spot to demand that the GOP House cave on his demand for a tax hike on the top income earners — those who earn more than $250,000.

Feinstein added, “No one in the state of California who earns above $250,000 has ever said to me, ‘Look, I need a tax cut.’ And if they do, I would sure like for them to pick up the phone and call me and tell me why, and why they don’t like this proposal.”

Now I would argue that ending the Bush tax cuts for any group of earners isn’t cutting their taxes, but raising them. And that a tax increase from 35 percent to 39.6 percent is not, as Feinstein maintained, “a little bit more.”

So if you earn more than $250,000 and you want to see your taxes raised, you might want to give the Senator’s office a call to let her know you agree. And if you don’t, pick up the phone. Sen. Conservatives have long complained about liberal bias in  the media, and with some justification. But it has finally reached the tipping  point. Not in our lifetimes have so many in the press dropped the pretense of  objectivity in order to help a political candidate. The media are rooting for  Barack Obama. They’re not hiding it.

The fact that their editor saw fit to print the following article about Obama and the one that appears in the latest Newsweek, makes this a truly amazing event, and a news story in and of itself. I Too Have Become Disillusioned.

Years from now, historians may regard the 2008 election of Barack Obama as an inscrutable and disturbing phenomenon, the result of a baffling breed of mass hysteria akin perhaps to the witch craze of the Middle Ages. How, they will wonder, did a man so devoid of professional accomplishment beguile so many into thinking he could manage the world's largest economy, direct the world's most powerful military, execute the world's most consequential job?

Imagine a future historian examining Obama's pre-presidential life: ushered into and through the Ivy League, despite unremarkable grades and test scores along the way; a cushy non-job as a "community organizer;" a brief career as a state legislator devoid of legislative achievement (and in fact nearly devoid of his attention, so often did he vote "present"); and finally an unaccomplished single term in the United States Senate, the entirety of which was devoted to his presidential ambitions.

He left no academic legacy in academia, authored no signature legislation as a legislator. And then there is the matter of his troubling associations: the white-hating, America-loathing preacher who for decades served as Obama's "spiritual mentor"; a real-life, actual terrorist who served as Obama's colleague and political sponsor. It is easy to imagine a future historian looking at it all and asking: How on Earth was such a man elected president?

 Here are the Top 20 reasons a regime change is imperative, now:

         1.   $5 Trillion in New Debt – By the end of FY 2012, Obama had added $5.3 trillion to the National Debt – almost one-third of the total ($16 trillion). He rolled up more debt in three years than the first 41 presidents combined, more in four years than George W. Bush did in 8. By 2011, foreigners owned 54% of our total debt – China alone has $1.2 trillion. If Obama is reelected, what exciting times lie ahead – China calls in its debt, the dollar crashes, the U.S. joins Greece and Italy in bankruptcy court? 'No Red Tape'? New Jersey Turns Away Non-union Relief Crews

How desperate is hurricane-ravaged New Jersey? Not desperate enough to suspend a union monopoly that keeps the state in the bottom ten states for economic competitiveness (and #48 for business friendliness). Relief crews from Alabama who were specifically called to New Jersey found themselves diverted to Long Island, NY after they arrived because they use non-union labor.

A new Resurgent Republic poll shows Mitt Romney continues to hold a massive lead over Barack Obama. Mitt leads by 12 points with independent voters.

In a poll released last week, Mitt Romney led Obama by 19 points among independent voters.

Controversial Arizona Sheriff Joe Arpaio plans to endorse Texas Gov. Rick Perry for the GOP presidential nomination this week, NBC News reports.

Arpaio, the self-proclaimed the self-proclaimed toughest sheriff in America who prices himself on his uncompromising stand on illegal immigration, will campaign with Perry in New Hampshire this week, NBC News quotes a source as saying.

Perry is one of several Republican presidential candidates, including former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney and Minnesota Rep. Michele Bachmann, who have sought the Maricopa County sheriff’s endorsement.

Perry received widespread criticism after a Florida debate in which he said anyone who opposed giving tuition breaks to the children of illegal immigrants “did not have a heart.” He later apologized for the remark.

And, in an exclusive interview with Newsmax.TV after that Sept. 22 debate, the Texas governor acknowledged that he had chosen his words poorly, but he stood by his view that the decision in his state to extend tuition breaks was the right one.

“I was probably a bit over-passionate by using that word and it was inappropriate,” Perry said. “In Texas in 2001 we had 181 members of the Legislature — only four voted against this piece of legislation — because it wasn’t about immigration it was about education.”

Bored with the Penn State scandal because it didn't implicate any prominent Republicans, the mainstream media have suddenly become obsessed with Grover Norquist's "Taxpayer Protection Pledge." They are monomaniacally fixated on luring Republicans into raising taxes.

If Democrats could balance the budget tomorrow and quadruple government spending, they'd refuse the deal unless they could also make Republicans break their tax pledge. That is their single-minded goal.

But the media are trying to turn it around and say that it's Republicans who are crazy for refusing to consider raising taxes no matter how much they get in spending cuts.

At Tuesday night's Republican presidential debate on foreign policy, for example, CNN's Wolf Blitzer asked the candidates for the one-millionth time if they would agree to raise taxes in exchange for spending cuts 10 times larger than the tax hikes.

Terrorism can wait -- first, let me try to back you into a corner on raising taxes.

Amazingly, Blitzer cited Ronald Reagan's statement in his autobiography, "An American Life," that he would happily compromise with Democrats if he could get 75 or 80 percent of what he wanted -- implying that today's Republicans were nuttier than Reagan if they'd refuse a dollar in tax hikes for $10 in spending cuts.

Wolf should have kept reading. As Reagan explains a little farther in his autobiography: He did accept tax hikes "in return for (the Democrats') agreement to cut spending by $280 billion," but, Reagan continues, "the Democrats reneged on their pledge and we never got those cuts."

Maybe that's why Republicans won't agree to raise taxes in exchange for Democratic promises to cut spending.

Brent Bozell's Media Research Center has correctly pointed out the media bias (shocker!) involving Newt Gingrich's financial enrichment bonuses from Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae...because the MSM has failed to report the LARGER story of bonuses taking place when the pair of mortgage backers lost $1.4 BILLION last quarter.

But...but....Gingrich remains a hypocrite and a professional politican and I still don't trust him.

 

ABC's World News on Wednesday and Good Morning America on Thursday both reported on the revelation that Newt Gingrich received almost $2 million while consulting for Freddie Mac over an eight year span. Yet, the network ignored the fact that the company (with a Democratic President) is still giving massive bonuses and will now be asking the federal government for an additional $6 billion.

On World News, Jon Karl highlighted only the Gingrich connection, highlighting attacks by Michele Bachmann. Yet, while ABC focused on this, NBC's Kelly O'Donnell explained, "So, here's what set off the latest round of outrage. $13 million in bonuses for the two mortgage giants that had to be bailed out by taxpayers. Now these bonuses come after Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac actually lost $4 billion last quarter."

Newt Gingrich's explanation about taking north of $2 million in "consulting fees" from Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac between 1998 and 2007 is just plain insulting to anyone with a political IQ over room temperture. Arguing about the amount when the numbers are publicly available is even more annoying.

The former Speaker of the House expects us to believe that he was acting as a "historian" and not a paid political lobbyist, despite reports from the prinipals involved that was not the case.

Puh-lease.

Newt Gingrich is a brilliant man. And a VERY flawed person. He has spent decades amassing personal power, only to blow it in a spectacular fashion during the Impeachment Hearings of his identical twin brother Bill Clinton.

What did we learn from that awful time? I'll remind you.

URBANDALE, Iowa — Republican presidential candidate Newt Gingrich acknowledged Wednesday that he received personal compensation from Freddie Mac, the federally backed housing agency, but says he doesn't know exactly how much he was paid.

Speaking with reporters while campaigning in Iowa, the former House speaker left open the possibility that his consulting firm received between $1.6 million and $1.8 million over almost a decade. Gingrich said he received a portion of that for providing "strategic advice for a long period of time" after he left Congress.

Bloomberg reported this week that the amount is significantly higher than the $300,000 figure Gingrich cited during a debate last week.

The hypocrisy of liberal Democrats in general, and Joe Biden in particular, always provides amusement for those of us who play in the political sandbox.

The South, once solidly Democratic, is more solidly Republican than ever after the 2011 elections.

As the last state legislative races were called this week from the Nov. 8 votes in Virginia and Mississippi, the party of Abraham Lincoln now controls both chambers of every state legislature in the 11 former states of the Confederacy, with the sole exception of Arkansas. And Arkansas Republicans need to flip only a handful of seats in 2012 to make the trend unanimous.

None of this comes as welcome news for President Obama's re-election campaign. In 2008, Mr. Obama was propelled to the White House in large part with breakthrough victories in such states as Florida, North Carolina and Virginia, but all three states now have Republican-led legislatures, with the GOP's biggest gains in the 2010 elections.

The shift means that in swing states such as Florida, the GOP 2012 nominee will have a home-field advantage given the local balance of power.

Last week, my brother (and only sibling who is a conservative) called to talk politics. I come from a long-winded family, so I settled in.

Mark was particularly anxious to discuss the Presidential race and breathlessly pronounced that he had FINALLY settled on a GOP candidate.

"Who might that be, Mark?" I asked listlessly.

"Newt. Newt is the only one who can pull off this election," my brother responded.

At this point, I think I blacked out a little bit because I didn't quite catch his finer points involving Newt's grasp of constitutional law. When my brother finally wound down, I pointed out that GOP voters are not going to be thrilled to re-visit 1998, when Newt the Lout was recieving oral sex from a staffer (whom he later married after divorcing his second, or was it third wife?)

"Well, uh, maybe. But Newt is the only one who can save the country."

Apparently, others are beginning to see my Big Brother's point of view. The newest PPI poll shows Newt is on top(reportedly his favorite position.)  More from  Josh Richman at the Oakland Tribune.

country -- Indiana, Georgia, Minnesota, Nebraska, Kansas, Washington,
D.C. -- but never in Chicago.
    So it's curious that all the sexual harassment allegations against
Cain emanate from Chicago: home of the Daley machine and Obama
consigliere David Axelrod.
    Suspicions had already fallen on Sheila O'Grady, who is close with
David Axelrod and went straight from being former Chicago mayor Richard
M. Daley's chief of staff to president of the Illinois Restaurant
Association (IRA), as being the person who dug up Herman Cain's personnel
records from the National Restaurant Association (NRA).
    The Daley-controlled IRA works hand-in-glove with the NRA.  And
strangely enough, Cain's short, three-year tenure at the NRA is evidently
the only period in his decades-long career during which he's alleged to
have been a sexual predator.
    After O'Grady's name surfaced in connection with the miraculous
appearance of Cain's personnel files from the NRA, she issued a
Clintonesque denial of any involvement in producing them -- by vigorously
denying that she knew Cain when he was at the NRA. (Duh.)

“Is local radio dead”, asks programmer Mark Edwards. “Not yet” – but properties are “dying slowly in a hospice called AM and FM.”

Mark says PPM is part of the picture, and so is local TV’s encroachment on radio’s lucrative morning drive daypart. How has radio responded? Edwards cites a couple of case studies - #1, “A major radio company has moved all its stations to its own app for smartphones and tablets. But after testing the Android app on six different devices over three carriers, the app was only able to stream listenable audio on two of the devices.” #2, "Clear Channel Media Holdings recently hired Bob Pittman to run the company. Pittman is a very smart man and understands the future of content delivery as shown by the company's huge investment in iHeartRadio…They may have some of the right ideas, but have eliminated hundreds of jobs in the last month as they add more centralization to their programming, completely ignoring the fact that being local is one of traditional radio's most important ways to differentiate itself and keep listeners, regardless of how the content is delivered.” Read Edwards’ “Uncensored” column here.

Herman Cain’s first public accuser is a former Chicago radio staffer.

Sharon Bialek worked at Tribune’s WGN radio (720) from 2001 to 2004, when WLS-TV News says she left and soon afterwards accepted a gig at CBS Radio’s WCKG (105.9). Bialek encountered Cain in 1997, when she claims he reached under her skirt as she asked about potential employment. He was running the National Restaurant Association and she’d already been let go from the association in Chicago – but had traveled to Washington DC to meet with Cain, because she needed a job. Channel 7 says Bialek has a history of changing jobs and “appears to have struggled financially.” She filed for personal bankruptcy twice, the second time due to large legal bills. That was in 2001, the year she joined WGN. Her fiancé Mark Harwood says "this is truly an American girl who’s got a big heart and wants to do the right thing” by coming forward with her story about what she says happened 14 years ago. Rush Limbaugh talked about Bialek yesterday - making a produced audio joke out of the pronunciation of her last name.

Cain has a last word on harassment allegations…

After a generally cordial and policy-filled debate between Cain and fellow Republican presidential candidate Newt Gingrich, the former businessman took questions from reporters during a press conference in which event organizers told reporters the focus needed to be entitlement spending.

“Don’t even go there,” Cain told a reporter who began asking about the harassment allegations. Cain then asked his chief of staff, Mark Block, to deliver the reporter a copy of the “journalistic code of ethics.”

“Are you not going to answer questions about this ever again?” a reporter asked Cain.

With a grin he said, “You got it,” and began to leave the room to a barrage of shouted questions.

But before making it to the door, he stopped and said, “I was going to do something that my staff told me not to do and try to respond, OK?”

As he began talking, Cain staffers told him he needed to leave – but Cain sat back down.

“We are getting back on message, end of story. Back on message. Read all of the other accounts, read all the accounts, where everything has been answered in a story. We’re getting back on message,” he said

(AP) — Former Minnesota Gov. Jesse Ventura is so upset by the dismissal of his airport security lawsuit that he threatened Friday to apply for dual citizenship so he can spend more time in his beloved Mexico — or run for president of what he labeled "the Fascist States of America."

Ventura, also a former wrestling star, sued the U.S. government in January, alleging that airport scans and pat-downs amounted to unreasonable search and seizure. A district judge threw out his lawsuit Thursday, ruling it should have been filed in a Circuit Court of Appeals.

Ventura has said a titanium hip implanted in him in 2008 sets off metal detectors and that agents previously used hand-held wands to scan his body. He said he was subjected to a body pat-down after an airport metal detector went off last November. Ventura said he hasn't flown since and won't fly commercially again.

Outside the federal courthouse in St. Paul, with a crew from his "Conspiracy Theory" cable TV show filming, Ventura said he hadn't decided whether to continue pressing his lawsuit. He said he wanted to make his case before a jury, not a panel of judges.

I have been donating for about 1 year now, starting last year at Thanksgiving and donating at Walter Reed.  Since it's closure I have been going to the Pentagon to donate my platelets.  Donating blood products is a way to help all our troops and their families. I don't know how much help they need, but they have asked me if I could visit them twice this month due to the Thanksgiving holiday.  I live in Richmond and am happy to go as often as I can.  A chance to help the troops and a chance to assooiate with the men and women.  Please check it out if you haven't done so in the past. 

Thousands of people have lost jobs in the radio industry in the past few months and years, (including myself and my husband) andespecially hard hit has been the spoken word format. I have serious concerns about talk radio, and whether it will survive, particularly conservative talk radio.

It's time for re-regulation of radio.

HEDGECOCK OUT AT KOGO?
(rumor has it)

"...It appears that Roger Hedgecock’s run at KOGO is over. Info we get is that Hedgecock’s ad endorsement clients have been notified that he will depart KOGO in January (unless taken off the air sooner?) and re-surface at KFMB. Word further that Rick Roberts will be gone at KFMB opening the 3p-6p slot for Hedgecock.

Hedgecock has been a fixture at KOGO (formerly KSDO) since 1985 when he was forced to resign as Mayor of San Diego. Radio legend Jim Price ran KSDO at the time and wisely decided that Hedgecock needed a job, that public interest in Hedgecock and his scandal at city hall was a commodity and hired Hedgecock to do a radio talk show. It was a very creative decision by Jim Price, one that gave Hedgecock a new lease on life both professionally and financially. He has done well.

As memories dim Hedgecock is viewed less as a defrocked former Mayor and more as a stalwart conservative talk show host who at times has had great influence on the radio industry and his audience.

Details of Hedgecock’s departure from KOGO are still sketchy. He has always been a difficult and demanding employee and has scuffled with management since the departure of Jim Price many years ago. His salvation has been his generally good audience ratings and his ability to lure advertisers who buy radio time and pay him for his product endorsements.

Complicating a clear picture of events is Hedgecock’s nationally syndicated radio show which he launched in January 2009 under the banner of the Radio America Network. My understanding of that deal is that he left the payroll at KOGO and was compensated by Radio America (to the tune of about $300-Thousand a year). KOGO provided radio studios for his national broadcast and cleared his national show to air in the San Diego market. While Hedgecock was required to focus on national topics by his syndicator KOGO continued to sell spots with Roger’s endorsement for air in the San Diego market. Hedgecock thus supplemented his wage with lucrative endorsement fees paid by local advertisers. The radio station benefited as well.

What prompted a departure from KOGO? Not sure, but details will surely surface shortly. If KOGO was not on the hook for Hedgecock’s wage and he is paid by Radio America then there would seem to be no financial incentive for KOGO to boot Hedgecock?

Ratings however do matter and it may well be that ratings for his national show in the San Diego market were not good given that his topics and opinions almost exclusively mirror those of Rush Limbaugh and Shaun Hannity (and others) who air before 3pm. By the time a listener gets to Hedgecock at 3p most of the news cycle conservative topics have been hashed and re-hashed. Add to that the fact that Hedgecock’s basic appeal in this market has been his focus and impact on local issues. Over the years (I was his producer for 15 years) we defended the Boy Scouts of America at Balboa Park, fought successfully to keep The Cross on Mt. Soledad, supported charter school education, led the fight to defend traditional marriage in California, labored to secure our local border with Mexico and support our Border Patrol, spearheaded the ouster of former Governor Gray Davis and more.

Hedgecock’s rejection of localism likely diminished his attractiveness to San Diego listeners.

A plausible scenario for the station switch….his national show is in trouble? His syndication has been third tier at best. I often joke that he is carried in places like Lonesome Nut, Oklahoma and Parched Butt, Arkansas but the truth is his show failed to crack top markets and he remains little quoted or noted by national media. He is not Glenn Beck or Mark Levin and shows no signs of carving a unique place on the national stage. If his syndicated show is in trouble then it makes great sense for Hedgecock to seek to return to the local airwaves with an exclusively local show.

I speculate but it’s fun….if Hedgecock were to approach KOGO (read Clear Channel) about the prospects of a local show and CC paying him and his staff once more, the response likely to be lukewarm, tepid or downright chilly. Clear Channel is in process of throwing out employees by the score all across the nation. KOGO has been downsized to the point that local newscasts are being anchored out of KFI in Los Angeles and the news department is reliant on listeners rather than professional reporters for coverage of news. ( see SDG&E blackout ) Add to that Hedgecock’s temperament as a permanently disgruntled employee and you have nearly legal grounds for divorce.

As for KFMB? Rick Roberts has been in the bulls eye there for a while now. Word I get is that he was not happy with his forced move from AM drive to the 3pm slot. ( He was replaced by Mike Slater ) His longtime producer was ousted and there is speculation his own wage was reduced? For a while he took to doing his radio show out of his home in Oklahoma. Still he remains a strong lure for personal advertising endorsements. I don’t know what Rick Roberts audience ratings look like today but according to Wikipedia his numbers for 2009 were very good (they quote an LA Times article). But all has not been well between KFMB and Rick Roberts for some time.

KFMB has long been an “out card,” for Hedgecock. We used KFMB several years ago to upscale a new contract with KOGO. During negotiations we met with KFMB and worked out a deal to do a radio show and also appear on their sister TV station. We then used that potential deal to seal a deal with KOGO. A similar scenario possible today? Given Clear Channel’s current challenges KOGO may not have been able to meet a better deal. Or perhaps had no such interest?

So what next? KOGO puts Jon & Ken into the 3pm slot? This duo already deals with state and regional topics and could easily modify format to include items of interest to San Diego. This plan would also fit the Clear Channel model of clustering programming. Just a guess.

Hate to end by saying “only time will tell,” but that would be the case. We’ll learn more in the days to come….(keep an eye on sdradio.net…if anyone can ferret this out it will be Chris Carmichael) ….but it is significant in the history of local broadcasting that the Hedgecock era at KOGO is over, if rumor is correct.

Were I to make a wish it would be that Hedgecock returns to his local roots with KFMB. On balance he has been a force for good in the local community and long provided a place for the community to gather daily and often to organize and act in the manner of responsible citizens with common interests. Given the near total destruction of local radio programming across America….Having Hedgecock back local would be refreshing…but given my luck…his syndicated show will continue and so will his parroting of top tier talkers. Say it ain’t so.

      Remember the violent demonstrations over Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker doing away with collective bargaining for Teacher's unions?  The results are in.  Some school districts went from a $400,000 deficit to a $1,500,000 surplus as a result.  They are even hiring new teachers, not firing like the Liberals said would happen.  Why?
      It seems that the insurance company that provided all the "so-called" benefits to the teachers was an insurance company owned and operated by the teacher's union.  Since the outfit was guaranteed to get the insurance business from the teachers, and the State had to pay for it (not the teachers) the insurance company was increasing  annual costs every single year to become the most expensive insurance company in the state.  Then the company was donating millions and millions of dollars to its favorite democrat politicians who, when they got elected, guaranteed to keep funding the union's outrageous costs.  In other words, the insurance company was a "pass through" for Wisconsin taxpayer money directly to the democrat politicians."

(Reuters) - People who are lonely may be more likely to have sleepless nights, researchers said Tuesday in a study that suggests loneliness may not only cause unhappiness, it may be bad for your health.

Reporting in the journal Sleep, Lianne Kurina of the University of Chicago and colleagues studied loneliness and sleep patterns among a group of older residents living in two colonies of Hutterites in South Dakota.

People in this religious sect live communally, sharing possessions and meals. They are rarely socially isolated.

She said the findings were similar to those from a 2002 study of college students that compared feelings of loneliness to sleep quality. It found that the lonelier the students felt, the more fitfully they slept.

The researchers collected information on feelings of loneliness, blood pressure and sleep from 95 residents of the Hutterite communities.

To measure sleep, study volunteers wore wrist bands that measured their activity and level of restlessness during sleep.

Among the residents, roughly half said they were not lonely. But among the remaining half, the researchers noted a trend between increasing feelings of loneliness and social isolation and more fitful sleep.

"Basically, the lonelier individuals had sleep that was more broken up. There was more movement during the night, more periods of short sleep duration, more tossing and turning," Kurina said by phone.

Kurina said her study does not prove that loneliness causes sleepless nights. Instead, it may help to explain why loneliness has been associated with poor health.

"It's evidence of one way in which feelings of loneliness might get into the body" and affect health, she said.

CNBC.com has a great article this weekend about the dramatic uptick in the rental markets....which I could have told them if they had asked!

I'm renting out my home in Marin County and moving further north, and I'm very excited to do so. All my reasons are the same as those quoted in the news article plus a couple more: I'm tired of taking care of a four bedroom home, and my new place has a ton of fabulous restaurants around the corner. I never have to cook again (if I don't want to!)

So in March he sold the Manhattan apartment he bought in 2008 for about the same price he paid and moved — along with his wife and child — a few steps away into a luxury, two-bedroom rental unit in a brand new building.

Lee wouldn't disclose what he's paying, but similar two-bedroom apartments in the building usually rent for $11,000 a month.

“I wanted to protect ourselves from prices going down,” says Lee, who is a managing director at a major bank. “I didn’t want to be an owner anymore.”

Lee has company. Demand for luxury rental units has increased as wealthier individuals who can afford to buy are deciding not to, according to brokers and real estate analysts in affluent areas of the country such as New York City, Chicago and San Francisco.

“More affluent Americans are opting to rent as oppose to buy,” says Jack McCabe, an independent real estate analyst and CEO of McCabe Research and Consulting in Deerfield Beach, Fla. “Within the last year, so many people have seen their family and friends get burned in real estate. They don’t see it as being a risk free investment as they used to.”

And they're paying top dollar to rent.

In Manhattan the demand for high-end rentals has never been hotter. In the third quarter of 2010 there were 200 new leases signed for rentals charging $10,000 a month and up, more than double the 89 leases signed the year before, according to Jonathan Miller, CEO and president of New York City-based real estate appraisal and consulting firm Miller Samuel.

What’s considered luxury in New York City? Currently on the market now at The Corner, Lee's new address, are a couple of three-bedroom apartments ranging from $14,800-$20,000 a month. At The Anthrop, another luxury building in Manhattan, a 3,331-square-foot four bedroom unit rents for $18,000.

Miller says that while high-end sales have picked up recently in Manhattan, the increased demand for luxury rentals shows that more would-be buyers are concerned and taking the “wait and see approach.”

The demand is also being seen in Marin County, right across the Golden Gate Bridge from San Francisco.

Last year, the phones at Foundation Rentals & Relocation office were ringing constantly with high-end homeowners wanting to rent property that they couldn’t sell, but no one was interested in renting them.

Now the firm is getting calls from executives, especially in the technology sector, looking to move into a rental.

“They’re entrepreneurs. They would rather put their cash in their business,” says Darcy Barrow, who founded the firm with her husband Christopher Barrow.

“And get a greater return,” adds Christopher.

Thanksgiving means that I have family and friends near to me (preferably at my dinner table) where we can show our love and feel the love that we have for each other.

This Thanksgiving is hard, though.

So many close friends and my family members literally have broken hearts and other ailments.

My son Greg is in the hospital today after a severe asthma attack.

My brother Mark Morgan just had double by-pass surgery, and contracted pnuemonia in recovery.

My good friend Lee Rodgers, co-host of the Lee Rodgers and Melanie Morgan show for 17 years, has had heart surgery and has experienced complications. The good news is that I spoke to him two days ago, and he appears to be harassing the nursing staff. Whew!

Gene Burns of KGO radio is in the hospital suffering from a broken back, and a good friend of his is in the same hospital with a heart attack.

My niece McCayla is joining us for the holidays (thank God!) after heart surgery three months ago.

This is just a partial list of those I personally know who are marking their lives one day at a time. I am grateful to the good Lord that they are still with us, and I with them.

Keep those you love close, and make sure they know your feelings every day.

This is the time of year when scrool yoots learn about the first Thanksgiving.  We¹ve all heard how that first winter in the New World was very difficult for the pilgrims.  Lack of food and the bitter cold temperatures killed nearly half of the colony.

According to the journal of Gov. William Bradford, which he completed in 1650, there was actually plenty of resources from which to eat, and plenty of able-bodied men to provide food, but yet they nearly starved.  Why?

Gov. Bradford says of the first harvest of 1621, ³They began now to gather in the small harvest they had, and to fit up their houses and dwellings against winter, being all well recovered in health and strength and had all things in good plenty.  For as some were thus employed in affairs abroad, others were exercised in fishing, about cod and bass and other fish, of which they took good store, of which every family had their portion.  All the summer there was no want; and now began to come in store of fowl, as winter approached, of which this place did abound when they came first (but afterward decreased by degrees).  And besides waterfowl there was a great store of wild turkeys, of which they took many, besides venison, etc.  Besides they had about a peck a meal a week to a person, or now since harvest, Indian corn to the proportion.  Which made many afterwards write so largely of their plenty here to their friends in England, which were not feigned but true reports.  All this while no supply was heard of, neither knew they when they might expect any.²

With an abundance of resources, why would the pilgrims face starvation?

For the same reason that the former Soviet Union could be so rich in natural resources, yet the Russian people lived in squalor with a poor economy that eventually led to the collapse of the Soviet Union in 1989, when the Soviets were unable to keep up to America in the arms race begun by President Ronald Reagan.

The Soviet Union is very rich in oil, ore, iron, manganese, asbestos, and natural gas.  Yet because of the communist form of government they had, it wasn¹t profitable for the people to obtain these resources and sell them for a profit.  When you have a government that takes most or all of what you earn and distributes it equally to everyone, there is no incentive to work.

We can also learn a lesson from Hong Kong who, in spite of having no natural resources whatsoever, had a robust economy because of the freedom to produce and sell for a profit.

So, we see that natural resources really have nothing to do with a prosperous economy.

In Gov. Bradford¹s journal, we learn that it was required for the colonists to put everything they had produced in the common stock and each man was free to take what he and his family needed.  Basically, they were expecting to live off the fruits (and vegetables) of other men¹s labor.

This is the essence of what Karl Marx said in 1875, ³From each according to his ability, to each according to his need.²  An example of a man who learned nothing from the pilgrims over two hundred and fifty years before.

We read from Gov. Bradford¹s journal that this caused confusion, discontent and bitterness as the pilgrims felt it immoral and³deemed it a kind of slavery² to be working for the families of others.  He wrote of this fallacy that they believed ³that the taking away of property and bringing in community into a commonwealth would make them happy and flourishing; as if they were wiser than God.²

Greek philosopher, Aristotle, noted, ³That which is common to the greatest number has the least care bestowed upon it.²

In an interview last December with Tom Brokaw, Genius Obama stated of the economy, ³Š if our entire economic policy is premised on the notion that greed is good and what¹s in it for me, it turns out that that¹s not good for anybody.²

If only someone could have passed this TV wisdom along to the pilgrims.  Here was a society where nothing was in it for them, and they just quit producing!  Nowadays, the ³what¹s in it for me² is what we call a paycheck.  If you didn¹t get a paycheck for the work you do, would you still get up each day and go to work?

Gov. Bradford and others figured out that ³God in His wisdom saw another course fitter for them.²  So they tried the first American farms conceived in the idea of private ownership, which today we callŠ ³Capitalism².

Gov. Bradford writes, ³So they began to think how they might raise as much corn as they could, and obtain a better crop than they had done, that they might not still thus languish in misery.  At length, after much debate of things, the Governor (with the advice of the chiefest amongst them) gave way that they should set corn every man for his own particularŠ²

Each family was ³assigned² a ³parcel of land, according to the proportion of their number² from which they could plant and produce all they could for their own family¹s use.

Now the families had the incentive to get out and plant corn.  Gov. Bradford writes, ³This had very good success, for it made all hands very industrious, so as much more corn was planted than otherwise would have been by any means the Governor or any other could useŠ²  Even the women and children planted and harvested.  In the winter of 1623, there was such an abundance of everything the pilgrims needed, that they were able to sell or trade the surplus they produced.

Contrary to what schools teach about sharing with the Indians was really America¹s first lesson in the failures of socialism.

Communism/Socialism is destructive to the human nature as Gov. Bradford quickly learned, but many of today¹s leaders, centuries later, still have not learned this valuable lesson.

These forms of government are destructive because they destroy man¹s God-given incentive to be productive and flourish.  The first Thanksgiving began with the idea that we would all throw what we produce into a big pot, and we can all share and share alike.  It sounds great in theory, but as I¹ve said, this kind of thinking fails to take human nature into consideration.

"...All of which brings me to the conviction that Obama will never run for a second term, for the following reasons:

1. He doesn’t like the job. Above all, he doesn’t like the all-important decision-making part of his job, just as his serial “Present” votes as a state legislator and U.S. Senator demonstrated a distaste for or inability to make decisions, with the notable exception of his full support for late-term abortions. His wishy-washy indecisiveness in the White House can be seen in the endless months it took him to decide on an Iraq and Afghanistan strategy and in his failure to take any significant action at all regarding the BP oil spill that put thousands out of work and ruined entire Gulf Coast industries.
2. He’s not very good at the job. While wielding immense power from a Democrat-controlled House, Senate and White House, as well as over-40 czars unaccountable to Congress or the American people, Obama has actualized very few of his initiatives, and monstrosities like Obamacare were successful only through the time-honored Soviet tactics of threats, bribes and intimidation. In foreign affairs, the man who said he’d “restore respect” around the world saw his proposals rejected and repudiated by 19 world leaders at the G-20 this month; the Middle East “peace” fiasco is in a hopeless boondoggle; our traditional allies seem neither to trust nor respect Obama; and our enemies, sensing a weak man at America’s helm, have become brazen in their saber-rattling.
3. His work is done. As anyone with eyes and ears instinctively knows, Obama is a plant, an unsavory amalgam of a Trojan Horse and a Manchurian Candidate, the former ferreting a destroy-America agenda into our body politic, and the latter robotically delivering dulcet-toned platitudes and untruths to a public that, thank God, is no longer buying."

Networks Allow a Scant Four Minutes For Rangel Conviction, Devote 120 Minutes to Royal Wedding

Tuesday's evening news broadcasts and Wednesday's morning shows allowed a scant four and a half minutes of coverage to the conviction of powerful Democrat Charlie Rangel over ethics charges. In comparison, these same programs devoted 121 minutes to exhaustively examining every aspect of the announcement that Prince William is getting married, a disparity of 30 to one.

NBC's Today featured the most reporting on the British engagement, 41 minutes of coverage on Wednesday. Yet, the morning show discussed Rangel's misdeeds for only one minute and 45 seconds. Good Morning America was even worse. Just 12 seconds on the New York politician's failure to pay taxes and report income, but 31 minutes for the fashion, style and location of a wedding that won't take place until 2011.

The Early Show did slightly better on the Congressman: 38 seconds for Rangel, but 35 minutes for Prince William. The breakdown of just the morning shows is 42 to 1. (108 minutes for the wedding and two and a half for Rangel.)

Charlie Rangel, alleged Congressional crook, takes a hike after his fellow members deny him a delay in his ethics hearings.

"...Embattled New York Democratic Rep. Charles Rangel today defiantly demanded that the House Ethics Committee delay his pending public trial because he has not been given enough time to set up a legal defense fund to pay for a lawyer to represent him. "With all due respect, I am going to have to excuse myself from this proceeding," Rangel said, unless he was given the time to hire counsel. But after a closed-door meeting to consider the request, the committee of four Democrats and four Republicans pledged to move forward, despite Rangel's threat to walk out on the proceedings."

I am feeling a bit of the schadenfreude when it comes to Keith Olbermann, whom I think is the biggest a**hole in TV. I have defended his right to make political donations, and still remain on the tube, but a girl can gloat a bit, can't she?

I had many plans for today. So many observances to attend, and words to write about the heroes we honor (hopefully) more than once a year who have served our nation with pride and distinction.

But I have just returned from Washington, D.C. where I spent the past few days meeting with representatives of the Fisher House foundation, which has spent millions of privately donated dollars to build compounds for the families of service members who need to be close to their greviously wounded soldier sons and daughters.

In the process, I caught a virus, so I am trying to do justice to a subject that I am passionate about, and not very well I am afraid.

So I will pass along this photo wihich touches my heart, and throughout the day, I will also have posts from Bethesda's newest Fisher House, a stunning new facility just dedicated yesterday...and many of us in the media who were there to help.

Keith Olbermann, the liberal lefty poster boy for viciousness and incivility, has apparently been de-fanged after being slapped with an indefinite suspension from his stupid little TV show on MSNBC earlier this afternoon.

Olbermann admitted to donating to several political races in Arizona's 8th district (against my guy and personal hero Jesse Kelly) and to Jack Conway's successful Senatorial bid against Christine O'Donnell in Delaware.

"I became aware of Keith's political contributions late last night," Phil Griffin, President of MSNBC, said in a statement. "Mindful of NBC News policy and standards, I have suspended him indefinitely without pay."

Olbermann, who does not hide his liberal views, has acknowledged donations of $2,400 each to Kentucky Senate candidate Jack Conway and Arizona Reps. Raul Grijalva and Gabrielle Giffords during this election cycle.

NBC's ethics policy generally bars political activity, including contributions, without the approval of the president of NBC News, Steve Capus, according to a 2007 story on MSNBC.com.

"Anyone working for NBC News who takes part in civic or other outside activities may find that these activities jeopardize his or her standing as an impartial journalist because they may create the appearance of a conflict of interest," it says. "Such activities may include participation in or contributions to political campaigns or groups that espouse controversial positions. You should report any such potential conflicts in advance to, and obtain prior approval of, the President of NBC News or his designee."

In a statement released before the suspension as announced, Olbermann said: "I did not privately or publicly encourage anyone else to donate to these campaigns, nor to any others in this election or any previous ones, nor have I previously donated to any political campaign at any level."

The excitement of this week’s elections has not died down and, thanks to supporters of Warriors for Congress, a group of veterans is heading to the Hill to do the work of the People.

Warriors for Congress – and America - had a good night and it is all because of your support. Candidates Dr. Joe Heck, Dr. Andy Harris, (ret) Lt. Col. Allen West, and Duncan Hunter Jr. all won their seats in Tuesday’s election. Jesse Kelly, who started of f a long-shot for his Arizona seat, is still in the middle of the decision. Votes are still being counted, but our hopes are high.

“The results show what great Americans can do when we put our minds and our hearts into it,” said WFC Chairman Melanie Morgan. “We worked hard and, because of the help of Warriors’ supporters across America, we succeeded. We can’t thank our donors and supporters enough.”

Warriors for Congress chose an elite group of veterans who had already sworn to uphold our Constitution. They put their lives on the line for America so Warriors was convinced that they would go to Washington and listen to the citizens who put them there.

Some of the races were mighty close, but in true Warriors fashion, our candidates fought with dignity and fairness.

One of the most exciting races was in Florida where the dynamic (ret) Lt. Col Allen West fought an uphill battle until Election Day when he cleaned up. West is already got boots on the ground to serve Americans.

According to a Miami CBS affiliate:

“After a sleepless and exciting night, Allen West is plotting his next move as the new U.S. Congressman of the 22nd district. He said his priorities remain the same as outlined on the campaign trail.

"That's the fiscal security and the physical security of the American people," he said. "So you look at right back here over my shoulder, the Winn-Dixie that has closed down. We've got to get oursmall businesses and corporations back open and up."

West, a Republican, unseated two-term Democrat Ron Klein by 9 percentage points. The victory was an upset after a tightly contested down and dirty race.

Dr. Joe Heck won a squeaker and has humbly begun his work on our behalf.

"This is the end of a long journey, but ultimately the truth prevailed. I would like to thank my family for their selfless sacrifice, endless endurance and unending loyalty. I would also like to thank the constituents of Nevada's 3rd Congressional District for their patience during this long and grueling election cycle, and express my humble gratitude for their faith in me and willingness to give us the opportunity to represent the in Congress,” Heck said.

Dr. Andy Harris won a tough race in Maryland.

“As part of that national trend, Maryland's most closely watched House contest saw Republican state Sen. Andy Harris defeat incumbent Democratic Rep.Frank Kratovil in the 1st District,”according to the Baltimore Sun.

“We are proud of all veterans who decided to extend their public service from their days serving in the Armed Forces to the rough world of politics,” Morgan said. “We will always recognize their sacrifices and we are sincerely grateful.”

My friend Jesse Kelley in Arizona's 8th District and closer to home, David Harmer, to whom Democrats are trying to hijack the election.

Kelly is an Iraq war veteran who came home determined to save HIS country from extremists, and David Harmer is a Ronald Reagan Republican in a swing district from the Sn Francisco Bay area.

As the votes were counted last night, we quickly jumped to a 3% lead and held it for most of the evening. As the number of precincts reporting increased, our lead gradually decreased, but we maintained it all through the night. As of 4:09 a.m. Pacific time, with 99% of the precincts reporting, we led by 23 votes (Harmer 81,762; McNerney 81,739).

Then, in the "preliminary final count," the incumbent suddenly jumped ahead (McNerney 82,124; Harmer 82,003).

If that sounds suspicious, it is. We have reason for serious concern about the integrity of the count and the security of the ballots in some areas. And many absentee and provisional ballots remain to be counted.

We insist that every legally-cast ballot be accurately and properly counted. Getting that done is going to be a battle. We may not know the result for days.

We urgently need additional observers to monitor the counting. If you can volunteer, call or come in to headquarters immediately.

Meanwhile... you have no idea how much I hate to say this, but the campaign didn't end when the polls closed last night, and our hard-working staff needs to stay on the job. We've exhausted the campaign treasury. Now we need to replenish it. If you can contribute, please do.

Giffords, 40, a two-term representative for District 8, led Kelly, 29, a Marine veteran, by less than one percentage point — or about 2,500 votes — with one of 352 precints left to be counted early Wednesday along with early ballots, which could be key."

San Francisco fast food eaters are McMAD.

Statement from Joe Miller

The campaign remains optimistic that Joe Miller will be the next U.S. Senator     from the state of Alaska.

Previous write-in campaigns in Alaska have demonstrated that as much as              5 to 6% of returned ballots have not met the standard to be counted as                     a valid vote.

As with any write-in campaign, the burden of execution rests with the             candidate whose name is not on the ballot.  Candidates who mount a write-in campaign opt for an uphill battle. At this point, without a single write-in ballot counted, Lisa Murkowski has no claim on a victory.

To complicate the matter, the Division of Elections has yet to adequately explain  how a ballot will be marked in favor of a candidate. The current standards are extraordinarily ambiguous.

We trust that officials will conduct the hand count with propriety and consistency. 

In short, this campaign is not over!

...about the incompetent, frighteningly out-of-touch campaign run by GOP political consultant Mike Murphy in California and the MILLIONS of dollars he pocketed from billionaire Gubernatorial candidate Meg Whitman.

I have not met either Whitman nor Murphy (interesting, since I have been at the forefront of GOP politics in California for almost two decades) so I have no vested interest in praising or damning either except from a purely analytical point of view.

Let's face it: Meg Whitman was a horrible candidate. She was disconnected, aloof, sheltered by her campaign when retail politics would have suited her better. She always used surrogates to speak to people rather than shake a hand. Maybe she is a shy person. That could explain why she preferred to sit in the back of a room texting rather than introducing herself to the Republican Federated Women of Solano County. But her people (and I mean MIKE MURPHY) ran a distant campaign filtered by thousands of advertisements that never told the story of who Meg Whitman is, and why she wanted to be Governor (because she really wanted to be PRESIDENT.)

Mike Murphy coached her with the same lines that he spoon fed Arnold Schwarzenegger when he ran for Governor after the recall of 2004. That side-by-side spot was devastating. I think it killed the Whitman campaign. Willie Brown, former Mayor of San Francisco, contends that Murphy should be sued for malpractice. I second that.

My only hope is that the Republican party of California fires these same old, same old re-treads and gets some fresh new blood in the Golden State.

Until the state of California fronts conservative, articulate and charismatic candiates, we are in big big trouble.

Otherwise, the people of California will be stuck with miserable choices until we pack the U-Haul's and hit the road. Then who will pay for illegal immigrants to go to public universities? Who will foot the bill for billions of unfunded pensions for government workers? Where will the money come from to balance 16 billion in deficit dollars?

 Nancy Pelosi is gone, and the entire country is better for it. Thank you Tea Party members! Let us celebrate the election of Marco Rubio (who may be our next Vice-President or Presidential candidate) and the newly elected Republican Governors and Congress Critters.

I just pray that Her Royal Highness will fade away and we can just forget this whole sad four year national nightmare.

But the same Wily Brown said that San Fran Nan is considering coming back home and running for Mayor. Nancy and the city of stolen ballots will deserve each other!

Meanwhile, America awakened and threw out the bums, repudiated Obama policies, and taking our next step to winning back control of the Senate ..and the Presidency. The Democrats can be proud of defeating Christine O'Donnell, Meg Whitman and Carly Fiorina by calling them sluts, whores and bitches. Way to go Dem's! Awesome political strategery.

Did our guys learn their lesson from the Bush years of too much spending and lack of deficit reduction?

 I hope so.

As the gray light of morning peeked through my curtains, I realized what the dream meant - our whole country is betting on the good sense and patriotism of millions of Americans who are gambling today that others will arise from their lethargy and vote to save us from the liberal orthodoxy that threatens us.

I have worked for two very long years to explain, exhort, and exclaim that change is critical - giving speeches, forming political action committees, criss-crossing the country on bus tours, doing hundreds of media interviews, creating alliances, voter registration, and every other aspect of retail politics that I can think to do.

Did I do enouh? Have you done enough? The clock is running out.

Our time is now at hand.

"...Gallup has just released its final voter enthusiasm poll.  If you’re looking for a wave, it’s here: The GOP’s enthusiasm gap advantage is a staggering 19 points.

The high level of Republican enthusiasm has led to the largest gap in enthusiasm by party of any recent midterm elections, 19 percentage points. The prior highs were nine points in favor of the Democrats in 2006, and nine points in favor of the Republicans in 1994.

The party with the advantage in enthusiasm has won the greater share of the national congressional vote, and gained seats in the House, each election year since Gallup began tracking voter enthusiasm in 1994.

In a poll just released by Public Policy Polling, "37% of voters" say they will vote for Joe Miller for U.S. Senate, and "30% plan to vote for Scott McAdams and another 30% plan to write in Lisa Murkowski."

Miller, the Republican nominee, said, "The only poll that matters is coming on Tuesday. This current poll reflects what we have been seeing on our own, however. There is tremendous enthusiasm and support wherever we go."

Campaign manager Robert Campbell also noted that "although we did not commission this poll, it comes from one of the more reputable polling companies." Campbell added that "People across the state have reacted favorably to Joe. The townhall meeting in Dillingham, the rally in Anchorage, everything indicates that Joe's message is getting through the noise and resonating with the voters."

Latest Gallup polling is scaring the bejeebers out of the liberals. Heh.

PRINCETON, NJ -- The final USA Today/Gallup measure of Americans' voting intentions for Congress shows Republicans continuing to hold a substantial lead over Democrats among likely voters, a lead large enough to suggest that regardless of turnout, the Republicans will win more than the 40 seats needed to give them the majority in the U.S. House.

The results are from Gallup's Oct. 28-31 survey of 1,539 likely voters. It finds 52% to 55% of likely voters preferring the Republican candidate and 40% to 42% for the Democratic candidate on the national generic ballot -- depending on turnout assumptions. Gallup's analysis of several indicators of voter turnout from the weekend poll suggests turnout will be slightly higher than in recent years, at 45%. This would give the Republicans a 55% to 40% lead on the generic ballot, with 5% undecided.

Republicans' 15-point lead among likely voters contrasts with their 4-point lead, 48% to 44%, among registered voters, highlighting the importance of higher GOP turnout to the election outcome. This wide difference between the GOP's margin among registered voters and its margin among likely voters is similar to the 2002 midterms, in which Democrats led by 5 points among all registered voters in Gallup's final pre-election poll, while Republicans led by 6 points among likely voters -- an 11-point gain.

These final estimates of the vote among registered and likely voters are consistent with Gallup polling since Sept. 23. Republicans have led by an average of 4 points among registered voters and by 16 points among a low-turnout estimate of likely voters since that time. Thus, while voter preferences could change in the final two days, perhaps resulting from Democrats' final push to motivate their base to turn out, voter preferences appear to be quite settled in this final post-Labor Day phase of the campaign.

A Republican Majority Very Likely

Gallup models the number of seats a party will control based on that party's share of the national two-party vote for the House of Representatives, using historical voting data in midterm elections from 1946 to 2006. The model takes into account the majority party in Congress entering the elections.

Gallup's historical model suggests that a party needs at least a two-point advantage in the national House vote to win a majority of the 435 seats. The Republicans' current likely voter margin suggests that this scenario is highly probable, making the question of interest this election not whether the GOP will win the majority, but by how much. Taking Gallup's final survey's margin of error into account, the historical model predicts that the Republicans could gain anywhere from 60 seats on up, with gains well beyond that possible.

It should be noted, however, that this year's 15-point gap in favor of the Republican candidates among likely voters is unprecedented in Gallup polling and could result in the largest Republican margin in House voting in several generations. This means that seat projections have moved into uncharted territory, in which past relationships between the national two-party vote and the number of seats won may not be maintained.

Additionally, efforts by state legislatures in recent years have attempted to insulate incumbent members of Congress from strong partisan tides such as are in force this year. Congressional district lines have been drawn to make them safe for specific parties, which may reduce the impact of national trends on election outcomes.

In the early part of the 20th century, it was not unusual for an election to bring about a change in party control of 50 House seats or more. In recent decades, the partisan shifts have been more modest, with the Republicans' 54-seat gain in 1994 a rare exception.

Turnout Holds the Key

To the extent Tuesday does bring about a strong Republican wave, it will be to a significant degree the result of turnout. Republicans have a slender 4-point advantage in the preferences of registered voters, which expands to 15 among likely voters. Republicans usually turn out at higher rates than Democrats, so the margin's expansion is not unusual, but its size this year is. In general, Republicans' advantage in the vote is strongest in an average turnout scenario, while higher turnout scenarios bring more Democrats into the likely voter pool and increase the Democratic share of the vote.

Republicans' turnout advantage is highlighted by two key questions used as part of Gallup's likely voter model. One asks Americans how much thought they have given to the upcoming elections; the other asks those who say they plan to vote how certain they are about voting.

The Oct. 28-31 poll finds that nationally, 75% of Republicans and independents who lean Republican are "absolutely certain" they will vote in the 2010 midterms, compared with 68% of Democrats. While these figures are not the only indicator of relative turnout strength -- this is just one question in Gallup's seven-item likely voter model -- the record-high seven-point gap between the parties is strongly indicative of a relative surge in GOP turnout.

When a KTVA reporter failed to completely end a phone call with a Joe Miller for U.S. Senate spokesperson, the campaign accidentally heard a disturbing conversation among the CBS-affiliate reporters.

This week, Randy DeSoto, spokesperson for the Miller campaign, was left anaccidental voicemail by members of KTVA, which appears to be a recording of ways the news station could fabricate stories about the Republican nominee.

KTVA reporters are heard discussing ways to “find” a “child molester,” who is involved with the campaign.

“You have to find that one person,” says the male reporter, to laughter in the news room. The reporters at KTVA then discuss creating a “Rand Paul” incident at the then upcoming Miller Rally (held on October 28, 2010) and hoping for violence so that they can “send out a tweet” and “Facebook” that “Miller got punched” at the rally.   

When confronted, KTVA acknowledged that the message was inadvertently left by a member of the TV station staff but denied that the station was brainstorming ways to create negative news stories about Miller. Jerry Bever, general manager for KTVA, released a statement, which was published atPolitico:

The recording was the result of a cell phone not being hung up after a call was placed to Randy DeSoto, Joe Miller campaign spokesperson, Thursday afternoon to discuss Joe Miller's appearance on that evening's newscast. That phone call was placed near the end of a coverage planning meeting in our newsroom regarding that evening's Miller rally in downtown Anchorage. The group of KTVA news personnel was reviewing potential "what-if" scenarios, discussing the likelihood of events at the rally and how KTVA might logistically disseminate any breaking news.

Why would a news station review scenarios of a sexual predator attending a political rally?Transcripts indicate that the station was looking for a sexual predator affiliated with the campaign.

Campaign spokesman Randy DeSotoresponded:

Now the media has gone from trying to create stories to openly lying. The audio was pulled directly from the voicemail message. Nothing was altered. “Everything that was recorded on my phone is what we released without change."

Others around the web also questioned the true intentions of the KTVA voice mail.

Hot Air'sEd Morrisseywrote:

KTVA’s explanation is absurd.  What possible context can they put around the suggestion that they start looking for child molesters at a political rally in order to exploit that for their television coverage?  That’s a “potential what-if scenario”?   Is this a suggestion that came up in strategy sessions when discussing a McAdams campaign rally?

The only absolution KTVA could have possibly had was showing that this conversation didn’t take place among their staff, but was left on the voicemail by some other people or organization.  Even if KTVA approached coverage of every political event in this manner, it would be an embarrassment.  In this case, it shows a strong bias against Miller and gives a window into the editorial direction at KTVA.

Dan Riehl at Big Governmentreplied:

The published audio and transcript of KTVA reporters conspiring against the Miller campaign make the truth abundantly clear for all to see and hear. A call to KTVA’s Nick McDermott made prior to publication has yet to be returned. In the event CBS-KTVA opts to issue a genuine response to these serious charges, we will publish it when received.

For now, all there is, is KTVA General Manager Jerry Bever’s ridiculous characterization the Miller campaign describes as a lie. It is difficult to disagree with that characterization. Consequently, as unfortunate as it may be, as things stand, we see no reason for Alaskans to trust CBS-KTVA’s campaign 2010 coverage given their unwillingness to honestly address concerns raised by their reporters disturbing behavior.

PARKLAND, Wash. - Four Lakewood Police officers were shot and killed Sunday morning in what authorities called a targeted ambush at a coffee shop.

Pierce County Sheriff's spokesman Ed Troyer says the officers - four male and one female - were in full uniform and wearing bulletproof vests, sitting in Forza coffee shop near 116th Street and Steele Street on the east side of the Air Force base at about 8:30 a.m.

Troyer says the officers were preparing for their shift when a suspect or suspects "walked in with a handgun, opened fire multiple times and then fled the scene," said Troyer.

Troyer called it an "ambush."

No invitation to the White House State Dinner? No problem!

Michaele Salahi forged right ahead to the White House soiree to mingle amongst the big-wigs because she refused to let an official invitation stop her and her game husband.

Now all kinds of politicans and shocked observers are calling for investigations.

Undoubtedly, heads will roll.

Actually, this is a pretty big deal. I was invited to the Vice-President's Naval Observatory home for a Christmas dinner party two years ago, and I underwent several checkpoints involving security and lists, screenings and identity checks.

But in a day and age when the liberals claimthere are so many racists ready to hurt the President, you would think the administration would demand the "A" game from the Secret Service.

Regardless, Michaele Salahi should be given a slot for which she covets: A Desperate Housewife from Washington, D.C. She has proven she knows how to attract media attention for the TV reality series and that can cause the claws to come out amongst the other ladies. Oooh. We LOVE cat-fights!

"...A couple of aspiring reality-TV stars from Northern Virginia appear to have crashed the White House's state dinner Tuesday night, penetrating layers of security with no invitation to mingle with the likes of Vice President Biden and White House Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel.

Tareq and Michaele Salahi -- polo-playing socialites known for a bitter family feud over a Fauquier County winery and their possible roles in the forthcoming "The Real Housewives of Washington" -- were seen arriving at the White House and later posted on Facebook photos of themselves with VIPs at the elite gathering.

"Honored to be at the White House for the state dinner in honor of India with President Obama and our First Lady!" one of them wrote on their joint Facebook page at 9:08 p.m.

But a White House official said the couple were not invited to the dinner, not included on the official guest list and never seated at a table in the South Lawn tent.

A woman describing herself as a publicist for the Salahis denied that they were interlopers. Pressed for details, Mahogany Jones sent a statement saying simply: "The Salahis were honored to be a part of such a prestigious event. . . . They both had a wonderful time."

While the White House offered no official explanation, it appears to be the first time in modern history that anyone has crashed a White House state dinner. The uninvited guests were in the same room as President Obama, first lady Michelle Obama and Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, although it is unknown whether they met the Obamas and the guest of honor.

"Everyone who enters the White House grounds goes through magnetometers and several other levels of screenings," said Ed Donovan, a spokesman for the Secret Service. "That was the case with the state dinner last night. No one was under any risk or threat."

Donovan said a preliminary internal investigation Wednesday identified "a Secret Service checkpoint which did not follow proper procedure to ensure these two individuals were on the invited guest list." He declined to give further details. An administration official said the White House will conduct its own review."

John Bolton doesn't want his family in NYC during the trial and sees this decision as more proof of the Obama administration's ineptitude and lack of commitment to fighting terrorism:

Host Melanie Morgan: Given the nature and danger of bringing these terrorists to American soil, where do you think is the most safe place to be when they get here and this trial begins? Where would you put your family?

John Bolton: Well, not New York City, I'm afraid to say. This is part of the callousness and the really, lack of professionalism and judgment to put them on trial anywhere in the United States in civilian courts. It's a major strategic blunder. It will give Khalid Sheik Mohammad and his co-defendants an opportunity, a la Joseph Stalin, to put on their own show trial in New York. This time it won't be the prosecution conducting the show trial, it will be the defense. Again, it shows the administration is not serious about the war on terrorism. It's a pre-9/11 law enforcement paradigm rather than the paradigm of a global war on terrorism which I think the Bush administration correctly adopted with near-unanimous support in this country after 9/11.

When you read some of those files – including 1079 emails and 72 documents – you realise just why the boffins at Hadley CRU might have preferred to keep them confidential. As Andrew Bolt puts it, this scandal could well be “the greatest in modern science”. These alleged emails – supposedly exchanged by some of the most prominent scientists pushing AGW theory – suggest:

Conspiracy, collusion in exaggerating warming data, possibly illegal destruction of embarrassing information, organised resistance to disclosure, manipulation of data, private admissions of flaws in their public claims and much more.

One of the alleged emails has a gentle gloat over the death in 2004 of John L Daly (one of the first climate change sceptics, founder of the Still Waiting For Greenhouse site), commenting:

“In an odd way this is cheering news.”

But perhaps the most damaging revelations – the scientific equivalent of the Telegraph’s MPs’ expenses scandal – are those concerning the way Warmist scientists may variously have manipulated or suppressed evidence in order to support their cause.

..and yet another "I told you so" moment as a blockbuster report from CBS Newsthat the rest of the media don't want you to know - that the Swine flu is hyped up and isn't the 'pandemic' that government officials are selling.

Interview: Sen. James Inhofe will call for hearings into IPCC, UN, East Anglia CRU e-mails

Earlier this morning, I had an opportunity to talk with Senator James Inhofe (R-OK), about a wide range of issues. We discussed the East Anglia CRU e-mails, but then moved to Gitmo, the terrorist trials in federal court, the health-care debate, and much more. Sen. Inhofe agreed with me that moving the Kerry-Boxer cap-and-trade bill to the spring meant that it was dead, and he says that Democrats have been listening to the groundswell of public opposition and have begun worrying about their jobs. As scientists confirm the earth has not warmed at all in the past decade, others wonder how this could be and what it means for Copenhagen. Maybe Al Gore can Photoshop something before December.

It will be a very cold winter of discontent for the warm-mongers. The climate show-and-tell in Copenhagen next month will be nothing more than a meaningless carbon-emitting jaunt, unable to decide just whom to blame or how to divvy up the profitable spoils of climate change hysteria.

The collapse of the talks coupled with the decision by Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid to put off the Kerry-Boxer cap-and-trade bill, the Senate’s version of Waxman-Markey, until the spring thaw has led Oklahoma Sen. James Inhofe, the leading Republican on the Environment and Public Works Committee, to declare victory over Sen. Barbara Boxer, D-Calif., and the triumph of observable fact over junk science.

The Washington Times also interviewed Senator Inhofe about the surprise revelation from the University of East Anglia’s Climate Research Unit (CRU) e-mails over the past few days, especially in how they manipulated data and deliberately hid contradictory information while building their “consensus” on anthropogenic global warming. Inhofe told Melanie Morgan and Jed Babbin that he would call for a Congressional hearing on the e-mails and their impact on the credibility of the AGW movement, especially as it relates to the IPCC and the United Nations:

Jed Babbin: And the – well but they were basically saying, “Oh yea, hey, let’s make it look like Jim so-and-so did that, and let’s help him cook the books, and let’s change the data…”

Melanie Morgan: And “let’s beat up those who don’t agree with us.”

Jed Babbin: Yea, but it’s all a huge fraud! I mean, Senator, am I exaggerating?

Senator Inhofe: No you’re not. If you remember, mine was the hoax statement, and that was, what, five years ago I guess.

Jed Babbin: Well, we ought to give you a big pat on the back for being …

Melanie Morgan: Yea, you deserve an an ‘atta boy, and now you are finally being vindicated.

Senator Inhofe: Well, on this thing, it is pretty serious. And since, you know, Barabara Boxer is the Chairman and I’m the Ranking Member on Environment and Public Works, if nothing happens in the next seven days when we go back into session a week from today that would change this situation, I will call for an investigation. ‘Cause this thing is serious, you think about the literally millions of dollars that have been thrown away on some of this stuff that they came out with.

Melanie Morgan: So what will you be calling for an investigation of?

Senator Inhofe: On the IPCC and on the United Nations on the way that they cooked the science to make this thing look as if the science was settled, when all the time of course we knew it was not.

Jed Babbin: Should somebody stop further spending on this until we get this investigation, Senator?

Senator Inhofe: Well, I don’t know how you do that, though, ‘cause we’re not the ones that are calling the shots. The interesting part of this is it’s happening right before Copenhagen. And, so, the timing couldn’t be better. Whoever is on the ball in Great Britain, their time was good.

Melanie Morgan: Well, Senator, thank you very much for coming back and handling a little bit, a tiny little bit of heat from the kitchen.

Senator Inhofe: Okay.

Jed Babbin: Thanks very much Senator.

Senator Inhofe: Thanks, you bet.

The documents appear to have been acquired illegally and contain all manner of private information and statements that were never intended for the public eye, so they won’t be posted here.

Gee, what a great idea! Perhaps the Times could have adopted that policy when it came to terrorist surveillance, banking cooperation on tracking jihadist money, and the location of secret CIA facilities for interrogating detainees captured abroad in the War on Terror. Will we be assured of the Gray Lady’s strict adherence to this policy … or will it only be imposed when the information “never intended for the public eye” contradicts their editorial policy?

The Coalition formed to fight the decision of President Barack Obama and Attorney General Eric Holder to try the 9/11 co-conspirators in New York City’s federal court, effectively giving war criminals the same rights as American citizens while endangering the safety of all New Yorkers. Two weeks ago, we sent a letter signed by 300 family members of 9/11 victims to the President, Attorney General and Defense Secretary Robert Gates asking them to reverse course. At the November 24th press conference, leading organizers of the Coalition will give details on a large rally which will be held on December 5th in New York City to protest the plan to bring terrorist detainees to trial in civilian courts. Debra Burlingame, founder of 911 Families for a Safe and Strong America, said “We chose to hold it on Thanksgiving Week in the hope that our fellow Americans will join us in sending our prayers and messages of thanks to our troops and first responders, who will bear the brunt of these dangerous decisions made in Washington. Our rally on Saturday, December 5 will tell Attorney General Eric Holder, President Barack Obama and their supporters in Congress: “We will fight you all the way!”

...but the polls say otherwise.

"...Just 38% of voters now favor the health care plan proposed by President Obama and congressional Democrats. That’s the lowest level of support measured for the plan in nearly two dozen tracking polls conducted since June.

The latest Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey finds that 56 percent now oppose the plan.

I wondered when the rest of the story would come out on Obama crony and Sacramento Mayor Kevin Johnson, who was the subject of an Inspector General's report on alleged corruption (the IG was later fired for making the report public.)

Well, that other shoe has dropped.

It's a doozy.

President Obama's approval ratings are tanking - and for the first time ever, his numbers are sub-50.

What. A bummer.

Politico.com has the stats:

"..President Obama's job approval numbers will dip below 50% for the first time today in Gallup's daily tracking poll, according to a Gallup official.

"Gallup Daily tracking results just in. Obama will be below 50% for the first time when we update our numbers at 1:00 p.m.," wrote Gallup.com managing news editor Lymari Morales on Twitter.

His approval numbers have bounced down to the 50% mark several times, driven by weaker support from independents and Republicans, but hadn't crossed it.

The slide is worrying for the White House, but it's probably not yet panic time. Ronald Reagan's approval numbers dropped well below 40% during the depths of his first term recession. If Obama's bad stretch puts him in the high forties or low fifties, that's not a crippling political problem. If he languishes there or drops further, it may become one.

Dagnabit, the Dem's have figured out that Independents don't like them anymore.

I was kinda hoping that would stay in their delusional haze for awhile longer - like until 2012.

No such luck, according to Politico.com

"...Mounting evidence that independent voters have soured on the Democrats is prompting a debate among party officials about what rhetorical and substantive changes are needed to halt the damage.

Following serious setbacks with independents in off-year elections earlier this month, White House officials attributed the defeats to local factors and said President Barack Obama sees no need to reposition his own image or the Democratic message.

Since then, however, a flurry of new polls makes clear that Democrats are facing deeper problems with independents—the swing voters who swung dramatically toward the party in 2006 and 2008 but who now are registering deep unease with the amount of spending and debt called for under Obama's agenda in an era of one-party rule in Washington.

A Gallup Poll released last week offered a disturbing glimpse about the state of play: just 14 percent of independents approve of the job Congress is doing, the lowest figure all year. In just the past few days alone, surveys have shown Democratic incumbents trailing Republicans among independent voters by double-digit margins in competitive statewide contests in places as varied as Connecticut, Ohio and Iowa.

Obama’s own popularity among independents has fallen significantly, too. A CBS News poll Tuesday showed the president’s approval rating among unaligned voters falling to 45 percent — down from 63 percent in April.

“We withdrew from the accounts of voters and now we need to pay them back,” said Nathan Daschle, executive director of the Democratic Governors Association. “We are having these conversations right now about what independents need to see and hear.”

The fake but accurate news service, also known as Associated Press, managed to find 11 investigative reporters to fact-check Sarah Palin's autobiography, but could pull off the same feat to pore over then-candidate Barack Obama's tome.

What. A. Surprise.

"...Sarah Palin is no normal politician, and at the Associated Press, apparently "Going Rogue" is no normal book. When the former Republican vice presidential candidate and former Alaska governor wrote her autobiography, the AP found a copy before its release date and assigned 11 people to fact check all 432 pages. The AP claims Palin misstated her record with regard to travel expenses and taxpayer-funded bailouts, using statements widely reported elsewhere. But it also speculated into Palin's motives for writing "Going Rogue: An American Life," stating as fact that the book "has all the characteristics of a pre-campaign manifesto." Palin quickly hit back on a Facebook post titled "Really? Still Making Things Up?" "Imagine that," the post read. "11 AP reporters dedicating time and resources to tearing up the book, instead of using the time and resources to 'fact check' what's going on with Sheik Mohammed's trial, Pelosi's health care takeover costs, Hasan's associations, etc. Amazing."

Former Attorney General and Judge Michael Mukasey appeared on this morning's America's Morning News and stated flatly that bringing Kalid Sheikh Mohammad to New York for a civilian trial is inviting a certain attack by Jihadists....more at the Washington Times website where you can hear my interview, alongwith John McCaslin, as the General shocks us with his candid remarks.

"...Former Attorney General Michael Mukasey warned Tuesday that trying Khalid Sheikh Mohammed and four other terrorist suspects in Manhattan could become an ugly sideshow.

Mr. Mukasey presided over terrorist trials in New York City before becoming attorney general but said that was before the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks.

"It's simply a fact of life that a jihadist, particularly somebody like Khalid Sheikh Mohammed, is looking for a big stage," Mr. Mukasey told The Washington Times' "America's Morning News" radio show. "New York City is the biggest stage in the world, and the attempt will be made to make this as big, spectacular and ugly as possible."

He pointed to the 2006 trial of Zacarias Moussaoui, convicted in Virginia of conspiring to kill U.S. citizens as part of the 2001 attacks and sentenced to life in prison."

November 11th is the day our country sets aside to express our gratitude to the military men and women who haves served us, asking for nothing in return.

Scenes from the emergency "House Call" on Capitol Hill led by Congresswoman Michele Bachman, a GOP conservative fighting to stop socialized medicine by the Democrats.

Thousands showed up under sunny skies to hear speakers like radio talk show host Mark Levin and actor Jon Voight as they exhorted the crowd to stop Speaker Pelosi and the determined Democrats.

We said the pledge of allegiance and prayed that the Liberals wouldn't ruin our current system.

You can't tell from this picture but the patriots who responded to the last minute call to action brought their patriotic spirit and their flags. It was simply amazing and I was glad to be there to watch.

Conservative activists (including Democrats and Independents) swarmed Capitol Hill yesterday demanding that Congress stop the health care reform bill being crafted secretly by House Speaker Nancy Pelosi.

They marched, they chanted, they cheered and jeered efforts to socialize medicine in this country and the exuberant crowd stood shoulder to shoulder with congresswoman Michele Bachman (R) Minnesota and other members of the GOP caucus as well as actor Jon Voight, John Ratzenberger (Cliff from Cheers) and talk show host Mark Levin.

I was there to watch and it was amazing how a crowd of about 10 thousand came from all around the country to be heard. People told me stories of driving all day and all night to get to Washington, including a bother and sister who had not seen each other in 7 years but decided to meet-up over this important issue.

One woman flew in from Bel Air, California after hearing Sean Hannity ask the American people to be counted, others came in from Illinois, Texas, Maine, Florida and every state in between.

The protest came as House Democrats prepared for a rare weekend session to vote on legislation central to President Barack Obama's domestic agenda. A separate version of health-care legislation continues to work its way through the U.S. Senate.

Speaker Nancy Pelosi has her game face on.

But, um, she looks and sounds ridiculous. For that matter, so does White House Senior Advisor David Axelrod and all the other pols who maintain that they are actually "pleased with the election results" yesterday. Quietly, though, Pelosi, Reid and tons of other liberals are very very worried about the movement of Independents and Democrats who are now voting for the GOP.

Does the Speaker "get it"? Does she understand the people have spoken and they don't like the health care reform bill she wants to pass and all the arm-twisting taking place on Capitol Hill for a new program called socialized medicine that will cost over a trillion dollars and will likely destroy our health system as we know it?

Maybe Ms. Pelosi might "get it" when folks show up at High Noon at Congresswoman Michele Bachmann's office Thursday for a massive rally of tea party and town hall protestors ReDux...(I'll be there to report the news.)

".......Most House Democrats tried to put a good face on Tuesday's election results, saying they picked up two more votes for a sweeping health care bill that could be on the floor as early as Friday.

But it can't make it any easier for House Speaker Nancy Pelosi as she works to corral the last holdouts she needs to pass legislation overhauling the nation’s health care system.

Of course, the speaker, who told POLITICO recently she's "not big on showing weakness," brushed aside questions about how the Democratic gubernatorial losses in Virginia and New Jersey would impact her final tally and instead trumpeted the two special election House wins.

"From our perspective, we won last night," the California Democrat told reporters during a Wednesday photo op. "We had one race that we were engaged in, it was in northern New York, it was a race where a Republican has held the seat since the Civil War. And we won that seat. So, from our standpoint, no, a candidate was victorious who supports health care reform, and his remarks last night said this was a victory for health care reform and other initiatives for the American people."

"From our standpoint, we picked up votes last night," a cheerful Pelosi said, "one in California and one in New York."

In another business-as-usual Friday night document dump, the White House released logs on 110 White House visitors and trumpeted “transparency like you’ve never seen before.”

The self-congratulatory announcement conveniently omits that Obama originally blocked the logs’ release and only disclosed them under threat of lawsuit.

Also, this “unprecedented” disclosure is severely limited:

Most of the visitors from Inauguration Day to September will never be released by the White House under this voluntary disclosure — unless the public can guess their names. The White House policy doesn’t allow members of the public or press to ask for “everyone who visited health czar Nancy-Ann DeParle,” or everyone who visited on May 4, or everyone from the American Medical Association. Only individual names can be checked.

The list released at 4:30 p.m. Friday includes just about 110 names with 481 visits. Those names were among those requested by members of the public so far, for visits during the period from Inauguration Day through July. (That’s why we know of visits by the wrong Bill Ayers, the wrong Angela Davis, etc., but we don’t know of visits by countless unnamed lobbyists.) Members of the public who used the White House online form to check names did not receive a personal reply indicating whether or not the request was received, or whether the name appeared on the list, so the system provides no feedback…A request for the complete records of all visitors from the first months of the administration, filed by msnbc.com, was rejected by the White House, and an appeal is pending. The news organization requested the names of all visitors to the Obama White House beginning with Inauguration Day. Msnbc.com has filed an administrative appeal with the Department of Homeland Security, which oversees the Secret Service.

Okay, I'll admit it. I am a chicken. A great big ole 'fraidy cat. I haven't written a word about Barack Obama's birth certificate controversy (until now.)

 It's not that I don't believe it is possible that the Dunham/Obama family didn't forge a copy (all these double negatives...sorry, I'm still sick.) I do believe it is entirely possible that the President-Elect was born in Kenya and faked an American birth certificate later in life.

But so what? You know there is too much money and elite power invested in Obama's presidency at this point for anything to change.

So much of our view of circumstances has to do with purposely cultivating an attitude of gratitude that is so sorely missing from many people's lives today.  Here's my own Bible verse I use nearly every day to remind me that it's not so much what happens that determines our state of happiness, as it is the part of our situation we intentionally choose to give priority:

"Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is gracious, if there is any excellence and if there is anything worthy of praise, fix your thoughts on these things."

As I have used this simple advice from the first gentile convert to Christianity, I have learned that when one is conscientiously cultivating this discipline to see the good wherever one finds it, to always try to find something worthy of praise, then at the same time, it becomes quite impossible to become overwhelmed by the negative.  It's sound advice worth heeding.

The green unit at The Weather channel is hemorraging red. In fact, the unit is flatlining right now, apparently the victim of budget cuts in tough times.

Damn, that is such a shame.

The timing of the Forecast Earth cancellation was ironic, since it came in the middle of NBC's "Green Week," during which the network has been touting its environmental coverage across all of its platforms. Forecast Earth normally aired on weekends, but its presumed last episode was shown on a weekday due to the environmentally-oriented week.

Forecast Earth was hosted by former CNN anchor Natalie Allen, with contributions from climate expert Heidi Cullen. It was the sole program on TWC that focused on global climate change, which raises the question of whether the station will still report on the subject. Cullen's future is unclear.

Heidi Cullen...Cullen...where have I heard that name before? Oh, I remember! It was one of my best read columns, like, ever.

Con job at The Weather Channel

The Weather Channel is launching a new website and broadband channel dedicated solely to global warming called "One Degree" and has a weekly program called "The Climate Code," devoted almost entirely to liberal advocacy on climate matters.

The network is running advertisements showcasing scared and confused Americans, including children and senior citizens, wondering about the coming apocalypse caused by global warming. (You can view the ad for yourself here.)

The chief martyr for the new "emotional" approach to broadcasting at The Weather Channel is Dr. Heidi Cullen, who serves as the network's cheerleader for global warming hysteria. Cullen's supposed expertise on climatology includes, among other things, earning a bachelor's degree in Near Eastern religions and history from Juniata College. One must indeed have to believe in the mystical to accept anything Ms. Cullen has to say about climatology.

Writing for the One Degree blog, Ms. Cullen recently threw a hissy fit that somemeteorologists are openly questioning the conclusions drawn by the Greenpeace crowd about the nature, extent, causes and even existence of global warming.

Cullen's diatribe, titled"Junk Controversy Not Junk Science," called on the American Meteorological Society to start requiring all meteorologists to toe the line on liberal interpretation of global warming, or else lose the organization's certification.

George Orwell's 1984 couldn't have concocted a better form of thought control.

Sarah Palin is a true American woman. Tough. Smart. Kind enough to pardon a turkey for Thanksgiving, and cool with another becoming my dinner.

I can promise you that the fate of the GOP in California has not been helped one iota by Schwarzenegger’s election, but instead he has managed to decimate the party. 

There are few national political figure who have her decency in the pursuit of being a good public servant, combined with an authentic conservative disposition and a willingness to engage her ideological opponents and not run from the battlefield of ideas. 

I’ll hope that you are one of those who will help her to fine tune her involvement and awareness of issues of national security, and not dismiss her because she doesn’t come out of the marbled floors of Washington, D.C. 

Americans who cling to their guns and Bibles are doing more than bitterly clinging these days. They’re locking and loading.

The election of Barack Obama to commander in chief has people scurrying to their local guns stores to stock up on handguns and long-guns, plus plenty of ammo to boot. Obama’s spokesparrots are, of course, pooh-poohing the proposition that he would grab guns from law-abiding citizens. Not the lawyer-in-chief. Oh no! He understands the Constitution.

Tell it to my friend Beverly Perlson, who marched down to the gun store, signed up for shooting lessons, and applied for a gun permit.

“An employee at the local gun store told us it took 7 weeks before he received his permit in the mail.  He said gun applications are through the roof right now,” Bev said. “Seems to be a phenomena occurring since the Presidential election.

“Suddenly, my right to bear arms is incredibly important,” Bev added. “ Let's just say it's contextual.”

The website is tracking the protests, intolerance and acts of violence against supporters of Proposition 8, the no gay marriage vote in California . The hate crimes taking place by rabid gay rights activists is documented by region, and the site also has origional reporting from across the country.

The wheels are coming off the auto industry finances, and its going to be up to the American taxpayer to rescue them again, unless someone steps in to stop this bail-out package. The hubris of these captains of industry was on full display as the CEO's of Ford, Chrysler and General Motors admitted they flew to D.C. from Detroit in private jets...alone.

No jet-pooling for these guys!

In fact, Ford Motor Co. has a fleet of 7 jets. And during questioning at the Congressional hearings, none offered to fly commercial in the future. And these people want us to turn over another 25 billion dollars? 

Mitt Romney, former Presidential candidate and stalwart Republican, has a new piece out today on the ramifications of letting Detroit's Big Three automakers go bankrupt. 

Here's my suggestion: let the other Big Labor unions bail-out the United Auto Workers.

25 billion is a drop in their combined postage budget. If they can strike together, let them bail together.

IFGeneral Motors,Ford andChrysler get the bailout that their chief executives asked for yesterday, you can kiss the American automotive industry goodbye. It won’t go overnight, but its demise will be virtually guaranteed.

Without that bailout, Detroit will need to drastically restructure itself. With it, the automakers will stay the course — the suicidal course of declining market shares, insurmountable labor and retiree burdens, technology atrophy, product inferiority and never-ending job losses. Detroit needs a turnaround, not a check.

Now that the election is over, William Ayers, unrepentent terrorist bomber, has burrowed out of the political darkness into the media limelight, rejoicing in the election of Barry Hussein Obama. Billy and Bernie, his crazy-ass wife, launched Barry into politics by holding his first fund-raiser in their Chicago living a decade ago.

While promoting his new book in Washington, D.C. my friends Kerry Pickett of Eyeblast.tv and Brian Maloney of RadioEqualizer.blogspot confronted Professor Ayers about a confounding mystery - why did he dedicate his book "Prairie Fire" to Sirhan Sirhan, JFK's assassin?

During an interview with ABC's Good Morning America, Ayers blames the Republicans for demonizing him in order to de-rail an Obama presidency. At the same time, he defends his violent Weather Underground past, and continues to claim that the violence didn't go far enough.

God Help us. This man is actually in charge of changing education curriculum for our children. And his friend the President-Elect has the keys to our government.

Media Malpractice - it was a common theme running up to the late, great election November 4th. The drooling, gushing, love-sick media completely in the tank for Barack Obama is responsible for the fresh hell America will experience under a Democratic regime.

John Ziegler, a former talk show host from Los Angeles, tested this hypothesis --that the election results were affected by the love-struck pundit syndrome.... Ziegler confirmed it when he hired John Zogby to do a survey. Now the Obamaniacs are bitching about the results (and attacking both Zogby and Ziegler personally.)

Survey finds most Obama voters remembered negative coverage of McCain/Palin statements but struggled to correctly answer questions about coverage associated with Obama/Biden

The jack-booted thugs of the gay community are erupting with rage while attacking young Christians who pray every weekend in the Castro district of San Francisco. While not a particularly smart move given the intense anger over the loss of Prop. 8 during the election, these young proslytizers have a constitutional, God-given right that is being abused.

Riot police were finally brought in to escort the kids out. Shameful.

Thousands of homosexuals turning out across the country demanding "equal rights" and protesting California's Proposition 8 supporting marriage between one man and one woman.

While it was mostly peaceful, the anger was palpable in many cities, especially San Francisco.

According to the San Francisco Chronicle, there was a scattering of darker signs calling for payback against those who backed Prop. 8.

"Abort the Mormons," read one sign, referring to the fact that church members provided as much as half the money for Prop. 8. "Stop the H8," read another.

Blacklists, bigots and bullies are the concerns of many people, including conservatives who might be supportive of gay marriage. But from the way many activists are behaving, they are doing themselves no favors.

And that is why folks are keeping a close eye on this movement, to see where it goes and who is targeted. Mormons. Christians. Jews. And Straights.

A loose coalition of organizations comprised of gay and pissed is promising, well, armeggedon.

In fact, they are protesting TWO elections in which Californians sided with traditional marriage.Protests are one thing, but the no on Proposition 8 people are crossing the line, intimidating people, forcing folks out of jobs, attacking others, and threatening to burn churches. Sounds like something right out of the KKK handbook.

So many conservatives are now going to monitor for civil rights violations, which may ultimately end up in court. A new website has been created called EightHate.com to monitor incidents of violence, and keep track of injuries and threats.

I know that many in the gay community disagree with the tactics of the thugs, but more need to stand-up against the jack-boots. The roiling hatred is NOT the way to win elections. And it IS the way to energy the conservative base for 2010.

Republican minority leader John Boehner refused to fall on his sword after the blow-out election two weeks ago. And that made conservatives very, very angry. Now it appears that Dan Lundgren, northern California's few remaining republicans, is up for a bit of gauntlet tossing.

ABC News' Rick Klein Reports: A conservative California congressman announced Friday that he's mounting a leadership challenge to House Minority Leader John Boehner, as the GOP continues to assess the fallout from last week’s election losses.

Rep. Dan Lungren, R-Calif., becomes the first rank-and-file House member to announce his intent to challenge the top House Republican in next week’s leadership elections. The No. 2 and No. 3 House Republicans have said they’re stepping down from their posts, but Boehner is seeking another term as minority leader.

“I am embarking on this effort because I think our Party is in trouble,” Lungren wrote in a letter to colleagues Friday afternoon. “If we don’t admit our difficulties and address them aggressively, we not only run the risk of becoming a permanent Congressional Minority but we will do a disservice to our nation.”

California is roiling over the voters’ approval of Proposition 8, which defines marriage as between a man and a woman. Talk about the Wild West. Thugs carrying rainbow flags, the symbol of gay pride and (alleged) tolerance, are marching around various spots in the state protesting the vote of the people.

What’s next? Will these sore losers take over the Hollywood bowl and start throwing the Christians to the lions? By the look of some of these rabid rabble rousers, they are ready for blood. They’ve had it with conservative Jews, Christians and anybody who doesn’t approve of gay marriage.

Before I run down a list of the boorish and illegal behavior of the no on Proposition 8 crowd, let me offer an important tip. You gay rights folks have supporters in mainstream America and among conservatives.

Take the case of Scott Eckern, artistic director of the California Musical Theatre.  Well, he WAS artistic director – until a gang of intolerant gay and lesbian activists decided to boycott the theatre. Why? Eckern donated to the Yes on 8 campaign. Imagine that.

Nobody is asking the gay community to support oppressors.

Folks likeJose Nunez, 37, didn’t have a chance against the No on 8 hatemongers. He was beaten until his eye dripped with blood just because he was distributing Yes on 8 signs at hischurch.

I didn’t see anything about her condemning the Rev. Jeremiah Wright, now infamous for his anti-American screeds from the pulpit. She also unloaded on Mormons, saying they “hate our country” and want to institute “Taliban-like polygamy.”

California Governor Arnold SchwarzenKennedy is watching a five alarm financial fire break out across this state, and his response to the flames is to throw fuel on it.

Our Governor is more than an embarassment. He is toxic to our finances, after presiding over a 40 billion dollar deficit that is going to require a huge financial bail-out, taxes increases through the roof, and dramatic slashes in services.

...like California, for example. The best advice I can give is to run an actual conservativein party elections, people who can speak intelligently and passionately about conservative ideals of limited government, lower taxes and national security.

An excellent start in that direction is today's announcement that Chuck DeVore of Southern California, a conservative Assemblyman, is going up against "bouncing" Babs Boxer (bouncing as in her involvement in a Congressional check-kiting scheme in the 90's.)

It has all the intrigue, back-stabbing, political infighting and narcissism of national politics, beginning with Senator Dianne Feinstein's nearly inevitable entry into the race. She's the 800 lb. gorilla that other candidates are skeered of - (sorry for that image!)

Whitman has hired Steve Schmidt, who ran Schwarzenegger's 2006 re-election campaign and McCain's presidential effort, as a political strategist and is attempting to buy back a number of Web addresses, including Whitmanforgovernor.com and meg2010.com.

The Atherton resident also gave $200,000 to the "Yes on Prop. 11" campaign, a redistricting measure on last week's ballot that is dear to the hearts of California Republicans. It holds a slim lead with 2.1 million votes still uncounted.

Hmmm.

Palin’s Appeal Proves Durable

As she seeks to recover politically from her failed election bid on Senator John McCain’s ticket, the big question for Gov. Sarah Palin has been whether her backers would remain enthusiastic over the long run.

As it turns out, over the past few days, about 1,000 people have donated tens of thousands of dollars to Our Country Deserves Better, a political action committee that is planning a pro-Palin advertisement later this month.

“We thought it would be appropriate to have the thank-you ad run around Thanksgiving,” said Joe Wiezbicki, the PAC’s coordinator. The group expects to shoot on Monday and raise “a couple hundred thousand dollars” to buy airtime nationally.

Our Country Deserves Better, based in Sacramento, was founded during the campaign to draw contrasts between Senator Barack Obama and John McCain, holding a cross-country, 40-stop tour and even running a pro-Palin commercial. Ms. Palin’s nomination brought praise from conservatives, and she drew large, enthusiastic crowds.

But now, Mr. Wierzbicki said, there has been “an absence of a pro-Palin cohort.”

All across America, veterans from inside the Sandbox (also known as Iraq) and Afghanistan are flying home to their family and friends, as the gradual draw-down begins of troops serving from the Middle East.

These warriors have fought bravely, with honor and distinction in temperatures that soared to 130 degrees in the shade, and freezing single digits at night.

They have killed, and been killed.

These military men and women have assured freedom for the Iraqi and Afghan people, in a part of the world where "freedom is just another word, with nothing left to lose" to borrow from Janis Joplin.

By engaging Al Qaida in the hellholes left behind by Saddam Hussein and Osama Bin Laden, the enemy lost his war with America.

We have triumphed, and will continue our winning ways because of the grit and guts of our heroes. For serving in these two wars, and all wars that came before, our soldiers deserve our gratitude.

I thank-you. We all thank-you and bless you and your families.

Hug a hero today. You'll know him or her by the uniform they wear, or the stories they share. It is important to remember.

I was going to write a piece about honoring the United States Marines on the Corps 233rd birthday, but so many others are more powerfully eloquent than I.

My dear friend Kyle-Anne Shiver emails me this note that I want to share.

We just spent $5 billion on a political campaign and I don't recall hearing a word about our American troops still fighting in our name for the very liberties we just now celebrated at our ballot boxes.

What a disgrace our media has become!  Glorifying the mundane and the frivolous to the exclusion of the substantial.

In the words of Forrest Gump:  "Stupid is as stupid does."

Does our media know its new name?  IDIOCRACY.

Last night, I attended the homecoming of 140 of America's finest - US Marines returning home from Iraq. They were greeted by hundreds of residents, many who drove long distances to get to the Alameda Marine Training Center to welcome these guys and gals home.

Hundreds of Patriot Guard Riders, with their pipes rumbling, accompanied the troops from Camp Pendleton to Alameda. Dozens of police and firefighters brought their trucks and sirens to overpasses along the way.

I expect this in other parts of the country. But not California. This warms my heart to know that people are awakening to the freedom they have due to the sacrifice of our soldiers.

Here is some news that is bound to piss off the Liberals. A new Rasmussen poll shows that an overwhelming majority of Republicans want Sarah Palin as their presidential nominee in 2012.

Meanwhile, Governor Palin has returned to Alaska, and has lashed back at the twits who are trashing her from the McCain campaign, anonymously, of course.

ANCHORAGE, Alaska — Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin called her critics cowards and jerks Friday for deriding her anonymously and insisted she never asked for the expensive wardrobe purchased for her use on the presidential campaign.

"I never asked for anything more than a Diet Dr. Pepper once in a while," Palin said as she returned to the governor's office from her two-month odyssey as theGOPvicepresidentialnominee. She said the Republican National Committee paid for the tens of thousands of dollars in designer clothes and accessories.

"Those are the RNC's clothes. They're not my clothes. I never forced anybody to buy anything," she said

Some members of the activist Gay community are calling for the boycott of Utah, after the defeat of Proposition 8 here in California banning marriage between he-he's and she-she's, a big no-no.

Why Utah? Because that is where the Mormon Church is located.

SALT LAKE CITY — Utah's growing tourism industry and the star-studded Sundance Film Festival are being targeted for a boycott by bloggers, gay rights activists and others seeking to punish the Mormon church for its aggressive promotion of California's ban on gay marriage.

It could be a heavy price to pay. Tourism brings in $6 billion a year to Utah, with world-class skiing, a spectacular red rock country and the film festival founded by Robert Redford, among other popular tourist draws.

"At a fundamental level, the Utah Mormons crossed the line on this one," said gay rights activist John Aravosis, an influential blogger in Washington, D.C.

"They just took marriage away from 20,000 couples and made their children bastards," he said. "You don't do that and get away with it.

This is a such a scream. The gays are going to boycott the Sundance Film Festival?!

That's right, because Robert Redford is such a conservative. Um-hmm.

 It seems to me that the activist crowd ought to be singling out the real culprits. The African-American community. Blacks are the ones who voted overwhelmingly  in California to approve Prop. 8.

Yet...I don't see the gays marching in front of Glide Memorial Church in San Francisco, or down in Watts.

Oh, one more thing. There are no conservatives calling the children of homosexuals bastards. None. Period. 

How many times have you heard the word "historic" in reference to this election? Yes, it is the first time for a black Presidency, and it is also historic we have elected the most hard-left candidate without deception since Henry Wallace assumed the Vice-Presidency, as Victor Davis Hanson points out.

But the road to the White House also has a rather conventional explanation.

CNN's Political Ticker is reporting that the voter turn-out was almost EXACTLY THE SAME as 2004.

What was the difference? Low turn-out for Republicans.

And what does that mean? The GOP nominated the wrong guy, that's what.

WASHINGTON (CNN) – A new report from American University’s Center for the Study of the American Electorate concludes that voter turnout in Tuesday’s election was the same in percentage terms as it was four years ago — or at most has risen by less than 1 percent.

The report released Thursday estimates that between 126.5 and 128.5 million Americans cast ballots in the presidential election earlier this week. Those figures represent 60.7 percent or, at most, 61.7 percent of those eligible to vote in the country.

“A downturn in the number and percentage of Republican voters going to the polls seemed to be the primary explanation for the lower than predicted turnout,” the report said. Compared to 2004, Republican turnout declined by 1.3 percentage points to 28.7 percent, while Democratic turnout increased by 2.6 points from 28.7 percent in 2004 to 31.3 percent in 2008.

The little girl was ready to cry.

..and so it begins in earnest, as angry mobs of Obama supporters discover that The Chosen One is a mere mortal, prone to lying and cheating just like any ordinary politican.

The diminishment of Sarah Palin has begun in earnest from the losers inside the McCain campaign, some of the leakers from within the circle of trust, others not.

This is infuriating. And unacceptable. These are churlish, petty people who need to keep their damn mouths shut.

Grace in Victory?

My organization Move America Forward, the largest pro-troop group in the country, has been doing battle with VoteVets.org, a far-left organization of Iraq war veterans headed by Jon Soltz, a former Army Captain, for almost three years.

Today I recieved a gloating email, and a request for donations to keep the spin alive that America has been involved in a pointless, murderous war and to demand from our elected leaders immediate withdrawal from the victorious battlefield in Iraq.

It is pretty typical of the ridiculous position these guys (Obama supporters all)  find themselves in - advocating for surrender in a war already won.

But note the salutation at the top. Classy, huh? Is this what we can expect from the Obama administration who vows to bring the country together and work past our differences? Just askin'.

Well, it was a long campaign season, and there was a lot of work to be done.  I wanted to first thank you for everything you have given us and our endorsed candidates.  I’m very excited to report to you that all the work has paid off, and we’ll be sending a new crop of veterans to Congress, to join those we currently have there........

Some random thoughts on what the pundits call a historic day.

-Don't vote. Yeah, you read it right. Don't cast a ballot if you are ignorant of the issues or the candidates. Please, it just screws things up for the rest of us who are aware and have done our homework.

-Here in San Francisco, the Board of Stupidvisors is looking into creating a task force for making the city's own voting machines. My guess is that the liberal lefties want to make it easier to steal votes in The City.

They had to work too hard in 2004.

Speaking SF politics, the residents here are going to be voting today to name a sewage plant after George W. Bush.

I may be going out on a limb here with a prediction, but I think it is going to pass. Handily.

-Who is going to play the election fraud card first? The Dem's or the Rep's? Hard to tell. Both sides will have a case by the end of the day, that is for sure.

Sarah Palin broke no rules in the attempted dismissal of her former brother-in-law who was involved in a nasty divorce dispute with her sister, tasered his 10-year old stepson, threatened her parents, and drove a state vehicle while legally drunk.

That is the conclusion of an independent Personnel  Board investigation of the Alaska Governor's handling of the situation.

So another left-wing attack vein severed. But it is too late to save Sarah's reputation.

Actress-singer Naomi Judd could figure it out but the morons in the McCain campaign couldn't. Those in the media elite who have successfully created a caricature of Governor Sarah Palin needed to be strongly counterattacked, not ignored.

They told us that she insisted on the teaching of creationism in the public schools to the exclusion of other theories of design - a lie. They told us that her daughter was really the mother of her Down Syndrome baby - a lie.

These pointy-heads tell us Palin is unqualified to be President - even though she has written an $11 billion dollar state budget, leads an organization with 29,000 employees, cut taxes providing a rebate of $1,300 for every Alaska taxpayer and she negotiated the start of a natural-gas pipeline that will be the largest civil engineering project on this continent - a goal that eluded three of her predecessors as Governor.

Much more preferable is Joe Biden, the Senate bloviator who, when he is not stuffing his lobbyist son and brother's pockets with bribes, has managed to have a perfect record on foreign policy - he has managed to be wrong on every major foreign policy question since coming to the Senate. This gaffe-a-day blow-hard couldn't hold a real job out side of elective office.

Folks, I couldn't be more excited by what I have seen and experienced on the ground in Ohio and Pennsylvania, from where I have just returned.

There are enough GOP volunteers flying in from non-contested states that campaign workers and activists are literally tripping over each other!

Yesterday, I was in New Stanton, Pennsylvania where my group Move America Forward's PAC delivered an endorsement to Lt. Colonel Bill Russell (Ret.) who is on his way to possibily upsetting Congressman Jack Murtha, the anti-American, Marine-baiting, Nancy Pelosi sidekick.

Vets for Freedom, Pro-Life groups, the NRA, and half a dozen other high value voter activist organizations are fanning out across western PA. today with the Russell campaign.

Yesterday was aVERY exciting event that gives me great hope for swinging the rest of the state, but mostly for the opportunity to kick "The Fat Little Bastard" as the Marines call Murtha, right out of office.

There are thousands of reasons for optimism for Tuesday. The GOP is energized and activated. But we still need to turn out the vote.

And from Rich Galen, Republican strategist who is watching the numbers, we are seeing positive movement for McCain.

• Bill McInturff, pollster for the McCain campaign took a look at a series of polls taken by the Mason-Dixon company in the battleground states. The numbers? This is a long way from over.
• According to the note Bill sent here are the results from yesterday morning:
  

• According to McInturff, it is important to note that even in the states Obama is leading he is under 50%. So is McCain, but the case we are making is this thing has not yet been decided.
• In Pennsylvania - which I have been saying is going to be 21 electoral votes for McCain - the race is tightening daily. After being stuck at a double-digit lead for Obama for the past two weeks, a newspaper poll released yesterday showed the lead down to seven for Obama.
• Remember that Hillary beat Obama by about 10 percentage points in the primary there, despite being outspent 3-1. Pennsylvanians - at least rural Pennsylvanians - were the subject of Obama's highly touted closed-press fundraising remarks in San Francisco.
• Obama, talking about job losses over the past 25 years, said (according to the transcript in the Huffington Post):

"You go into some of these small towns in Pennsylvania, and like a lot of small towns in the Midwest … they get bitter, they cling to guns or religion or antipathy to people who aren't like them or anti-immigrant sentiment or anti-trade sentiment as a way to explain their frustrations."

• Let's go back to Ohio for a second (in which Mason-Dixon has McCain with a two point lead). Two years ago, in the wipe-out of 2006, Republicans lost pretty much everything there was to lose: Governor. U.S. Senator. Control of the State Legislature. At least one U.S. House seat.
• In 2006 Governor Robert Taft was so unpopular he was the only politician in the United States who wished he had George Bush's approval numbers. Congressman Bob Ney went to jail in the Jack Abramoff scandal. And on and on.
• In 2007 no one would have believed that Ohio was going to be seriously contested in the Presidential race. The GOP was so far down, that it was pretty much off the board as a battleground state. In 2008, not only is Ohio in play, but McCain has a slight lead.
• Oh, and by the way, Gov. Sarah Palin was at Marietta College, Marietta, Ohio 45750 yesterday. She was greeted by, according to reporting by Melissa Walther in the Marietta Register, a "pumped up" crowd "of more than 2,000" at the field house on the campus.
• Two thousand people in Canton or Columbus, Ohio is one thing. Two thousand people in Marietta is something else, again.
• what I mean?
• I don't believe I'm breaching a confidence by relaying this from McInturff's e-mail:

In our internal numbers, there has been positive movement on voters seeing Obama as the "risky choice" and as McCain as the candidate who "will keep taxes low." As a pollster, this means there is a shift on the attributes that helps provide an understanding of what is causing the ballot to tighten.

• I am certainly not predicting a McCain victory on Tuesday. But neither should the press corps be predicting an Obama victory on Tuesday.
• There may be upwards of 130 million Americans voting in this election (not counting Mickey, Minnie, Goofy, Pluto and all the other cartoon characters registered by ACORN). That may be 10 million or more than voted in 2004 - the previous high turnout.
• As we head into the final stretch, make certain you are one of them.

If you are feeling squeamish about the election polls for McCain/Palin ticket, take a look at gasoline prices here in the battleground state of Ohio. It is a $1.99  gallon. Imagine that.

Today Move America Forward's Political Action Committee is endorsing war veteran Lt. Colonel Bill Russell (Ret.) who came from behind, surging to a dead even race.

I am steaming mad. But, I'll get to the bottom of this and when I do, I'll let you readers know what I do about it. A conservative Republican blogger called "racist."

So typical for the liberal left, but still infuriating.

300 fired up western Pennsylvanians turned out today to support Bill Russell for Congress. These folks are united in their admiration for the Iraq war vet and their loathing for Congressman Jack Murtha, who has gone into hiding these past few days,announcing his schedule only two hours before a campaign appearance.

The boisterous Russell campaign accepted the endorsement of Move America Forward PAC, Vets for Freedom, pro-life groups, and the NRA.

You know, the bitter clingers who love God and guns!

Pictured below is Sean Bryan, (at the podium) who flew in from Georgia to help Bill Russell in his campaign against Jack Murtha. Sean is a Marine. He was stationed in Haditha. He was one of the Marines who were slandered by Congressman Jack Murtha, whom he calls "Fat Bastard."

I’m now sitting here on the bus, with my family, Move America Forward, on our way to San Jose for a pro-troop rally. This is what we love to do. And this time we have a bus with a professional driver to help us make our trek across 12 states on a mission to bring our troops a message. An odd juxaposition for a war-zone that the Americans and our allied forces who have lost to the 'insurgency'.

Andrew Breitbart has searched the media databases and done the heavy-lifting for you.

Executive Director of the Cambridge Elections Commission Marsha Weinerman, who sicced the cops on a Boy Scouts troop trying to collect goodies for our service men and women in Iraq--calling their efforts a POLITICAL STATEMENT-- is feeling the heat from patriotic Americans. Your e-mails and phone calls shut-down both their server and voice mail in Cambridge, Ma. on Friday.

A troop of Boy Scouts in Cambridge set up donation boxes at 33 polling stations in that city on election day last week. Their mission was to collect amenities for troops serving overseas - those little items like snacks and lip balm that make life a little easier. The Scouts had spent considerable time and money to publicize the event, distributing fliers in city buildings, libraries and local businesses well ahead of time, according to their troop leader, Jamisean Patterson, writing in this week’s Cambridge Chronicle.

Most of the boxes were set up in the lobbies of those polling stations with the permission of the Cambridge Election Commission, Patterson wrote.

Then one resident in one precinct complained about the implied “pro war” message, according to Marsha Weinerman, executive director of the Election Commission. The city’s law department was consulted and “it was determined that the best course of action would be to remove the boxes,” Weinerman told the Chronicle.

Now her boss responds.

Notice Mr. Tim Toomey never addresses the ACTUAL issue. Smart. Change the subject. He calls it a 'bureaucratic oversight'.

Um-Hmm.

But distraction and deflection doesn't work for me. 

Ms. Weinerman and Mr. Toomey ARE the problem. ONE resident complains about a 'pro-war' message from the kids and the cops come rushing in to shut-down the Boy Scouts humanitarian efforts.

Pathetic.

Here's Tim Toomey's side of the story. 

In light of recent events on Election Day in which Boy Scouts Troop 45 was asked to remove donation boxes it had placed in Cambridge polling locations to collect essential goods for local troops serving overseas, I think it is only appropriate to clarify a few matters. 

Although they had informed the Election Commission of their intent and received encouragement from the City Council, the individual polling locations had not been notified in time and therefore had not granted the necessary permissions to Troop 45. 

RadioEqualizerBlogSpot has a comprehensive look at how the media has responded to this blood libel of our troops.

Marooned in Marin (who doesn't actually live in California anymore) is keeping a close eye on the situation from the East Coast and reports:

It sounds fishy when the Boy Scouts donation box was removed while anti-war fliers hung on the bulletin board in the same polling place, as a story from the Boston Heraldsaid (which was linked here yesterday).

"At the same polling station that was the scene of the complaint, on the same bulletin board where the Scouts had posted their flier were about 75 other fliers. According to Patterson they included those “promoting Get Out of Iraq, Campus Green, College Democrats of America.” The only one removed belonged to “those evil Boy Scouts collecting things for the troops,” he added."

Simple. Because Toomey is an anti-war, anti-military lib who voted to approve a resolution calling for the censure and or impeachment of President Bush on April 24, 2006. The text of the resolution cited (without any proof) that "President George W. Bush knowingly misled Congress and the American people into an illegal preemptive war against Iraq, costing its citizens billions of tax dollars and countless American and Iraqi lives; and (Whereas) President Bush has admitted to conducting warrantless wiretaps in direct violation of the laws of the Congress of the United States.

No, Vice Mayor Toomey. We know whose side you and Ms. Weinerman are on and it isn't on the side of our troops or the American people, no matter how you try to sugarcoat it.

Imagine --a bureaucrat who thinks it's important for 'civil liberties' to kick the Boy Scouts out of polling places for daring to collect needed items for our troops fighting overseas.

And then, then, look at the music community (or at least some of them) who are GIVING AWAY THEIR SONGS TO BOOST MORALE OF OUR SOLDIERS.

So many lovely tributes have been written about Veterans Day, all of which  make me weep,  because most of the men  in my family are veterans.

My husband, my father, my brother, my cousin, my grandfather (who served twice - World War I and World War II), and my Uncle Robert Morgan who paid the ultimate price for our freedom while on a bombing mission in the Big War.

THANKS AND PRAISE: Michael Yon emails: "I photographed men and women, both Christians and Muslims, placing a cross atop the St. John's Church in Baghdad. They had taken the cross from storage and a man washed it before carrying it up to the dome. A Muslim man had invited the American soldiers from 'Chosen' Company 2-12 Cavalry to the church, where I videotaped as Muslims and Christians worked and rejoiced at the reopening of St John's, an occasion all viewed as a sign of hope. The Iraqis asked me to convey a message of thanks to the American people. 'Thank you, thank you,' the people were saying. One man said, 'Thank you for peace.' Another man, a Muslim, said 'All the people, all the people in Iraq, Muslim and Christian, is brother.' The men and women were holding bells, and for the first time in memory freedom rang over the ravaged land between two rivers.

Let's hope these sentiments continue to spread.

It doesn't take a huge, organized rally with thousands of people to fight back against the moonbat crowd.

It just takes a little time, a big flag, and an endless love of our soldiers to stop the nutjobs in their tracks.

This weekend I had the opportunity to meet celebrated wit, lawyer, pop icon and political satirist, Ben Stein, who was in Sacramento to speak at my alumni dinner, the Pacific McGeorge School of Law Gala.  In addition to the expected humor and entertaining story telling, Stein also made everyone take note of our great country and the heroic men and women in the military.

He started his presentation with a story detailing how much he thanks God every day for the privilege of being an American, the greatest county on earth.  I wondered if the liberal audience might moan some disapproval, but was grateful that a handsome round of applause followed.  For some perverse reason, many liberals seem to have problems saluting America and our military, and Stein made every liberal in the place recognize where he stood.

The State Department cowards are lashing out at the outrageous idea they should be given a "choice" about whether they should be assigned to serve in Iraq.

If that's how you people feel --- then QUIT.

Blogger Ron Winter sums it up nicely.

"No wonder America's enemies and allies alike think this country is soft, weak, sissified, and incompetent. All they see is the diplomatic corps, which according to last week's reprehensible display, is soft, weak, sissified and incompetent.

"Oh, Mr. President. I can't serve there", whine, whine, sniffle, sniffle, "I don't agree with your policies."

I've been to Iraq. I'm a journalist, and I have kids. The burden fell entirely on my husband, and yeah, it was difficult, but not nearly as hard as the average 18-month tour of our soldiers.

Michelle Malkin, Michael Yon, Jeff Emanuel, Laura Ingraham, Sean Hannity, Oliver North...they didn't HAVE to go. But they DID.

 I'm 'volunteering' to go back again over the Christmas Holidays, just to show our soldiers how much we appreciate them. I'm not expecting, nor do I deserve any medals for bravery. I just love our guys and gals to pieces. I feel honored to be with them while they are away from their families, fighting for a historic cause.

So, for all the foreign service officers who signed up for dangerous duty --do your freakin' job, and STOP acting like cry-babies.

The violence in Baghad and surrounding provinces has stabilized to the point where Iraqi citizens are voting with their feet. They are on the move back home again.

Helen Douglas (a true patriot) is opening a new flower shop in Marin County.

The Grand Opening of Bloomworks at Bon Air in Greenbrae is scheduled from 2:00 to 7:00 this Saturday November 3rd.

I mention this because she has promised to donate5 percent of her day's proceeds OF THE ENTIRE MONTH FROM BOTH HER NEW STORE AND HER EXISTING STORE IN SAN ANSELMO to support our troops and the work we do at Move America Forward.

Also that day, the Redwood High School kids are doing a 24-hour ball-bounce-a-thon to raise money for the Fire victims in Southern California.

Highway 101 in Marin County to Sir Francis Drake Exit (west) and turn left.

The excitement of this week’s elections has not died down and, thanks to supporters of Warriors for Congress, a group of veterans is heading to the Hill to do the work of the People.

Warriors for Congress – and America - had a good night and it is all because of your support. Candidates Dr. Joe Heck, Dr. Andy Harris, (ret) Lt. Col. Allen West, and Duncan Hunter Jr. all won their seats in Tuesday’s election. Jesse Kelly, who started of f a long-shot for his Arizona seat, is still in the middle of the decision. Votes are still being counted, but our hopes are high.

“The results show what great Americans can do when we put our minds and our hearts into it,” said WFC Chairman Melanie Morgan. “We worked hard and, because of the help of Warriors’ supporters across America, we succeeded. We can’t thank our donors and supporters enough.”

Warriors for Congress chose an elite group of veterans who had already sworn to uphold our Constitution. They put their lives on the line for America so Warriors was convinced that they would go to Washington and listen to the citizens who put them there.

Some of the races were mighty close, but in true Warriors fashion, our candidates fought with dignity and fairness.

One of the most exciting races was in Florida where the dynamic (ret) Lt. Col Allen West fought an uphill battle until Election Day when he cleaned up. West is already got boots on the ground to serve Americans.

According to a Miami CBS affiliate:

“After a sleepless and exciting night, Allen West is plotting his next move as the new U.S. Congressman of the 22nd district. He said his priorities remain the same as outlined on the campaign trail.

"That's the fiscal security and the physical security of the American people," he said. "So you look at right back here over my shoulder, the Winn-Dixie that has closed down. We've got to get oursmall businesses and corporations back open and up."

West, a Republican, unseated two-term Democrat Ron Klein by 9 percentage points. The victory was an upset after a tightly contested down and dirty race.

Dr. Joe Heck won a squeaker and has humbly begun his work on our behalf.

"This is the end of a long journey, but ultimately the truth prevailed. I would like to thank my family for their selfless sacrifice, endless endurance and unending loyalty. I would also like to thank the constituents of Nevada's 3rd Congressional District for their patience during this long and grueling election cycle, and express my humble gratitude for their faith in me and willingness to give us the opportunity to represent the in Congress,” Heck said.

Dr. Andy Harris won a tough race in Maryland.

“As part of that national trend, Maryland's most closely watched House contest saw Republican state Sen. Andy Harris defeat incumbent Democratic Rep.Frank Kratovil in the 1st District,”according to the Baltimore Sun.

“We are proud of all veterans who decided to extend their public service from their days serving in the Armed Forces to the rough world of politics,” Morgan said. “We will always recognize their sacrifices and we are sincerely grateful.”
