Fat Brat? No Need to Diet for Chris Christie

Good news for New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie — being an overweight candidate in the Garden State won’t tip the scale in his opponent’s favor.
A hefty 64 percent of voters in the state are comfortable with an overweight candidate, while just 17 percent have some reservations, according to a Quinnipiac University Polling Institute released Tuesday.
Earlier this year, Christie told ex-White House doctor Connie Mariano to “shut up” after she said on CNN that she wants him to run for president — but first to lose weight because he could have a heart attack or stroke while in office.
The poll also found that Christie still has an astronomical approval rating of 70 percent, with a 23 percent disapproval.
Pollsters surveyed 1,129 registered voters from March 19 to March 24 and it has a margin of error of plus or minus 2.9 percentage points.
