For those in Northern California and beyond, Citizen Activist Sally Zelikovsky has some information for you.

Three items of interest from other organizations:

1. Great way to be part of the process and have a direct impact:

If you are interested in signing up for The Citizens Redistricting Commission read the following. Before the Voters FIRST Act, California lawmakers were charged with drawing their own legislative and Board of Equalization districts. But California voters changed all that when they authorized the creation of the Citizens Redistricting Commission in the November 2008 General Election. Now YOU can apply to serve on an independent Commission that will draw district boundaries for the state Senate, Assembly, and Board of Equalization.

It's a limited time offer.

Signups started in Dec and close 2/14

We need to make sure new district lines are drawn in conformity with strict, nonpartisan rules designed to create districts of relatively equal population that will provide fair representation for all Californians.

2. From Diana Nagy, who sang at our first TP and has been touring the country w/ TPExpress, and Move America Forward:

As you know I tour across the Country honoring our heroes in the military. Below is a tribute Move America Forward recently wrote to honor my uncle Michael Nagy, MIA WWII. I know we always think of our troops especially at the holidays and everyday as they sacrifice for us 24/7. Many people want to know what they can do to show their appreciation for our troops. We can inspire our soldiers by sending care packages to them, not just at the holidays, but all year long. Mail call is the highlight of their day and some never receive any mail. If you would like to send a care package to a soldier or platoon, you can write your own special message to them as well. Your message in the care package will put a smile on a soldier's face. We're able to send them a piece of home and let them know we have not forgotten them.

May light of the Christmas season continue to fill your hearts with wonder and awe, as we celebrate 2010 with new beginnings.

God bless you, God bless our troops, and God bless America!

Diana

PS. The United States Navy has asked me to sing for the new commissioning of the USS Independence in Mobile Alabama, Jan. 16th 2010 @ 11:00. They asked me because of the historical ties I have to the ship through my Uncle, as you'll read below. They also suggested that I bring a photo of him for the Navy to place on the ship, "so he can once again sail with her". It's a public event, come on out to Mobile Alabama next week...Road Trip!! :)

Check out the newest in technology! This ship is amazing!! www.ussindependenceship.org

Move America Forward

“On the Seventh Day of Christmas,
Our Soldiers Gave to Us . . .

Michael Nagy, (left) who gave his life in WWII.
Marc Alan Lee, (right) who gave his life in Iraq.

Dedication!!

Michael Nagy and Marc Alan Lee were made of the same thing: love of country and pure dedication. Both had completed dangerous missions and both volunteered for another mission, during which they gave their lives.

Michael is the uncle of Diana Nagy, a professional vocalist whose hit “Where Freedom Flies” is dedicated to her uncle. Marc is the son of Debbie Lee, who has dedicated her life to giving a voice to supporting U.S. troops.

Both Diana and Debbie have traveled with Move America Forward across the United States on tours supporting American troops. Debbie tells Marc’s story and encourages all Americans to show their love and gratitude for our troops. Diana’s soaring voice tells the story of patriotism through her God-given art, a stunning voice.

“Marc gave up his voice, so I use my voice to remind America of the sacrifices our troops make every day for us,” Debbie Lee said.

Move America Forward is awed by the gifts that our troops have given to us since the fight for Independence. Each day we chronicle these gifts and reasons we are celebrating our troops this holiday season and everyday. We want you to join us as we show our troops that we remember them.

Debbie and Diana are two family members who carry with them the dedication that their loved ones exhibited during wartime.

Both Debbie’s son and Diana’s uncle were so dedicated that they gave their lives. They didn’t have to be in danger. They had already completed deadly missions. But both volunteered to protect America again.

Marc stood up in the direct line of fire three times before a terrorist sniper shot him, ending his young life.

"To protect the lives of his teammates, he fearlessly exposed himself to direct enemy fire by engaging the enemy with his machine gun and was mortally wounded in the engagement. His brave actions in the line of fire saved the lives of many of his teammates," the citation for his posthumous awards read. Marc was awarded a Silver Star, one of the highest awards in the military, along with a Bronze Star and a Purple Heart.

Michael Nagy was flying one of the last planes shot down in WWII. He was a gunner in the Navy, had just flown his last mission, and was returning home. His route home crossed the path of the aircraft carrier USS Independence en route to Japan, which was short two torpedo-bombers. Mike and his crew volunteered to fly in the place of one of the missing aircrafts, and join them for “one last mission.” Mike never returned from that mission.

A few years later, his brother John (Diana's father) while serving in the Army, went to Maizuro Harbor in Japan to search for Michael, in hopes he might still be alive. It was there that he learned from a villager that Michael had indeed given his life, when his plane was shot down. Michael Nagy was shot down twice, the second of which he paid the ultimate sacrifice.

Debbie and Marc Alan Lee

Debbie and Diana are dedicated to giving voices to the American men and women who are fighting for our safety. Both have traveled the country multiple times with Move America Forward to rally for our troops.

It is said that true warriors have it in their blood. They don’t know how to say no to their country.

“When I went to Iraq with Move America Forward two years ago to see where Marc gave his life, and to bring Christmas cheer to our troops, I was honored to give handmade Christmas and Hanukkah cards from Americans to our troops,” Debbie said. “I will never forget their tears of joy as they read the messages from grateful Americans.”

“It is my honor to sing for our heroes,” Diana said. “We can never do enough for our troops. They have given their lives for us, I just want to spend my life giving back.”

our troops with a personal message.
