Michelle Malkin sent me an distressing e-mail today.  Our mutual friend Phyllis Schlafly is in the hospital. Michelle and I met each other for the first time at the Sonoma County Eagle Forum where Phyllis was being honored, as well as myself and Michelle.

"Everyone - Grand dame of grass-roots conservatism Phyllis Schlafly broke her hip after a UC Berkeley lecture on Tuesday and had surgery Wednesday. This amazing woman is 85 years old and still as active as ever on the speaking circuit. Just a few days before, she was in Texas rallying grass-roots GOP for a Lincoln Day Dinner event. She will miss CPAC on Saturday, where she was scheduled to receive lifetime achievement award from Clare Booth Luce Policy Institute.
