I am back from Paris, where I met with the leader of Mujahedin-e Khalq (MEK), a terrorist group, according to the Department of State and the European Union. MEK’s leader, Maruam Rajavi is also president-elect of the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI), an umbrella group for Iranian expatriates who now wish to overthrow the Iranian government. The group, which runs as a government, plans to be the ruling interim government in Iran when the current regime falls, and Mrs. Rajavi would be president. Mrs. Rajavi finds it ludicrous that her group is blacklisted as terrorists.
I apologize that I could not blog from Paris, as I had planned. Not only is the toilet paper in France below par, but electrical systems and Web connections in the French countryside are spotty. They do offer nice footbaths, which they call bidets. However, Al Gore needs to talk to them about proper use of his invention, the Internet.
I won’t spend America’s Independence Day detailing my meeting at the MEK’s compound, and attendance at a rally of thousands of Iranian expatriates who want independence from the brutal Mullahs in Iran. I will tell you all about it over the next days and, perhaps, weeks. MEK may be the link that helps us win in Iraq and inspire freedom in Iran, according to some in Congress, American think tanks and scholars.

‘Victory Demands Courage and Patience’

While in Paris, I was still steaming about President Bush’s push for immigration changes that included amnesty. I was also proud to be American and that so many of our voices were heard. Pitchforks in hand, we barked our wishes to Congress. And we won. Our Founding Fathers are proud.

I also realized that I could not continue the anger with my president. We are at war, and much of the world doesn’t like America, even though we feed it, protect it, and open our arms to the world. I am grateful for President Bush and I am reminded that he is one human being with the world literally resting on his shoulders. I pray for him as commander-in-chief, a husband, father, son and red-blooded American.

Rush Limbaugh’s father, the late Rush H. Limbaugh, Jr., an attorney and patriot, wrote an incredible article describing the lives of our Founding Fathers.

In part:

“Of those 56 who signed the Declaration of Independence, nine died of wounds or hardships during the war. Five were captured and imprisoned, in each case with brutal treatment. Several lost wives, sons or entire families. One lost his 13 children. Two wives were brutally treated. All were at one time or another the victims of manhunts and driven from their homes. Twelve signers had their homes completely burned. Seventeen lost everything they owned. Yet not one defected or went back on his pledged word. Their honor, and the nation they sacrificed so much to create, is still intact.”

She’s back . . .

Cindy Sheehan is celebrating Independence Day weekend by holding a garage sale at her former Crawford, Texas, property and promising to march with an Air Force deserter to Washington. How nice of her to honor our veterans and troops by marching with a turncoat.

What prompted the “retired” anti-war protester to wake from her five-week detour into reality? President Bush’s commuting Scooter Libby’s unreasonable prison sentence.

Sheehan is selling Camp Casey wares, including camping equipment. The tents and sleeping bags are probably all in very good shape and I’m sure the capitalist-deploring mother of hero Casey Sheehan won’t look to make a profit. Never mind that she sold Camp Casey for 60 percent more than she paid for it about a year ago. Sheehan must have attended the Hillary Clinton School of investment. The media widely reported that the “Peace Mom” slept in a ditch for weeks. MAF Chairman Melanie Morgan and I went to visit the camping Sheehan in August 2005, but found she was spending her time in air-conditioned hotel rooms or the now embattled “Peace House.” Sheehan had a personal masseuse, a tent with catered food, personal appointment assistants, and plenty of useful idiots who fawned over her.

Patriotic Parents and their eternal pain

Easter 2004. Jan Johnson returned home from church and found Army officials near her home. She knew their mission. Her son, 22-year-old Justin Johnson, was dead. Terrorists killed him with a roadside bomb in Iraq.

Justin’s death came six days after his good friend, Casey Sheehan, was killed by a terrorist’s bullet to his head. Before he died, Justin told his mother about Casey. Justin moved forward with his life-risking job as gunner on a Humvee.

Justin’s father, Joe, decided he would get to Iraq and finish the job his son died performing. Joe, 45, went to the sandbox and took a job with the Army as a gunner. He wanted revenge for his son, his country, and the innocents who lost their lives on Sept. 11, 2001.

Today Joe is home and considering more service in Iraq. Jan works to comfort other Gold Star parents, who have lost children in the war. Today you can watch Jan on Fox News’s Neil Cavuto at 4 p.m. Eastern Time. Tune in and you will see the face of a hero, a mother who bravely tells her family’s story of Patriotism. By the way, Joe and Jan’s only surviving son, Joshua, is serving the Army in Afghanistan.

Meanwhile, Justin’s roommate in Iraq, Luke Herbst, re-upped for another tour in Iraq after leaving the service. Luke has suffered greatly from the loss of his friends, Justin and Casey. His mother, Annette Meyer, told me today that Luke’s unit might soon be coming home.

Three days ago, Luke wrote to his mother, “hey mom, thanks for taking care of the phone for me. I only have 2 more missions left after tonight. so roughly 4 days more. Other than that don’t know too much more ill talk to you later. Love Luke.”

God speed, Luke.
