Hey, Everybody! I am back in California after a whirlwind road trip through Atlanta, Macon, Columbus, Augusta and Savannah, Georgia on an endorsement tour for Senator Saxby Chambliss.
I have so much to report, but I got a nasty germ that has slowed me down. But the good news is that my husband is cooking our Thanksgiving turkey, and fixin' the trimmings too.
Yesss!!!
When I feel a little better I'll get back on the computer and update my extraordinary trip and our results.
In the meantime, I am going to let my friend and proud Georgian Kyle-Anne Shiver say it all for me, too.
America, the Blessing
http://www.americanthinker.com/2008/11/america_the_blessing.html
May you and your families be wonderfully blessed this day!
So much of our view of circumstances has to do with purposely cultivating an attitude of gratitude that is so sorely missing from many people's lives today. Here's my own Bible verse I use nearly every day to remind me that it's not so much what happens that determines our state of happiness, as it is the part of our situation we intentionally choose to give priority:
"Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is gracious, if there is any excellence and if there is anything worthy of praise, fix your thoughts on these things."
St. Paul's Letter to the Philippians 4:8 (New American Bible)
As I have used this simple advice from the first gentile convert to Christianity, I have learned that when one is conscientiously cultivating this discipline to see the good wherever one finds it, to always try to find something worthy of praise, then at the same time, it becomes quite impossible to become overwhelmed by the negative. It's sound advice worth heeding.
I second this sentiment on our day of gratitude!! But before I run back to bed and dive under the covers, I want to pass along another message from my friend Rob Neppell at Kithbridge, Inc. (a great consulting company for bloggers) who is organizing the right-o-sphere to help injured soldiers.
Valour-IT’s fundraiser is winding up this week, and it’s been a tough slog this year due to the economic times. So we could use a nice push right here at the end. ( As you all hopefully know by now, Valour-IT provides voice activated laptops to injured troops who do not have use of their hands. They are now branching out and providing things like Wii game systems to aid with physical therapy and recovery. Truly great folks doing truly great work. )
The main fundraiser page is here:
http://soldiersangels.org/index.php?page=fundraiser
In addition, we’ve got a special effort going on this year where science fiction and thriller authors such as John Ringo, David Drake, David Williams, and David Weber have donated signed copies of their novels for a special auction to support Valour-IT. You can see and bid on all the items here: http://shop.ebay.com/merchant/spliffslips_W0QQ_nkwZQQ_armrsZ1QQ_fromZQQ_mdoZ
So give them a link, and if you can spare it, drop a few of your own sheckels their way for the holiday. And don't forget our care package program at Move America Forward (www.moveamericaforward.com) to send off to our troops still in harms way.
Thanks to all, and a wonderful Thanksgiving to you and yours…
Rob

When the phone rang a few minutes ago, I didn't suspect it would bring news that I am urgently needed in Georgia.
But I am throwing together a suitcase and pointing my big honkin' SUV to San Francisco International airport and jumping a jet to Atlanta. So what would cause this five-alarm response? Two words.
Saxby Chambliss.
My organization, Move America Forward, has an opportunity to make some news by endorsing Senator Chambliss through our political action committee. Joining me in a series of press conferences across the state are Joe and Jan Johnson, who lost their son Justin in the early days of fighting in Iraq. I wrote a book with Catherine Moy called "American Mourning" featuring their story, which stuns people who have read it. The Johnsons want us to finish our fight in Iraq, and when it is over, bring our troops home in honor. Now they are lending their voices to Senator Chambliss, because he has been by their side many times, and understands the situation and the consequences of premature pull-out.
Stay posted for times and dates in Georgia, and if you live close by, come by and meet us. Also, go to www.mafpac.org and help us support the candidates who support our military men and women, and their families.

The green unit at The Weather channel is hemorraging red. In fact, the unit is flatlining right now, apparently the victim of budget cuts in tough times.
Damn, that is such a shame.
The timing of the Forecast Earth cancellation was ironic, since it came in the middle of NBC's "Green Week," during which the network has been touting its environmental coverage across all of its platforms. Forecast Earth normally aired on weekends, but its presumed last episode was shown on a weekday due to the environmentally-oriented week.
Forecast Earth was hosted by former CNN anchor Natalie Allen, with contributions from climate expert Heidi Cullen. It was the sole program on TWC that focused on global climate change, which raises the question of whether the station will still report on the subject. Cullen's future is unclear.
Heidi Cullen...Cullen...where have I heard that name before? Oh, I remember! It was one of my best read columns, like, ever.

Con job at The Weather Channel
The Weather Channel is launching a new website and broadband channel dedicated solely to global warming called "One Degree" and has a weekly program called "The Climate Code," devoted almost entirely to liberal advocacy on climate matters.
The network is running advertisements showcasing scared and confused Americans, including children and senior citizens, wondering about the coming apocalypse caused by global warming. (You can view the ad for yourself here.)
The chief martyr for the new "emotional" approach to broadcasting at The Weather Channel is Dr. Heidi Cullen, who serves as the network's cheerleader for global warming hysteria. Cullen's supposed expertise on climatology includes, among other things, earning a bachelor's degree in Near Eastern religions and history from Juniata College. One must indeed have to believe in the mystical to accept anything Ms. Cullen has to say about climatology.
Writing for the One Degree blog, Ms. Cullen recently threw a hissy fit that some meteorologists are openly questioning the conclusions drawn by the Greenpeace crowd about the nature, extent, causes and even existence of global warming.
Cullen's diatribe, titled "Junk Controversy Not Junk Science," called on the American Meteorological Society to start requiring all meteorologists to toe the line on liberal interpretation of global warming, or else lose the organization's certification.
George Orwell's 1984 couldn't have concocted a better form of thought control.

Sarah Palin is a true American woman. Tough. Smart. Kind
enough to pardon a turkey for Thanksgiving, and cool with another becoming my
dinner.
A new PAC called OurCountryDeservesBetter.com has put
together a television commercial celebrating the ascendency of a vibrant
conservative woman whom I believe should run for President in 2012. (see above
banner or go to www.teamsarah.org for
further details.)
Watch this spot and pass it around.
"Thank You Sarah Palin"
