Patriots to Berkeley: No Apology, No Peace:

Assemblyman Guy Houston Introduces Legislation To  Suspend Transportation Funds to Berkeley for Anti-U.S. Marine Corps Actions

AB 2615 will suspend $3.3 million in Prop. 1B funds to Berkeley

(Sacramento) – Assemblyman Guy Houston (R-San Ramon) has introduced legislation to suspend $3.3 million in transportation funding to the city of Berkeley. Assembly Bill 2615 is a response to the actions taken by the Berkeley City Council on January 29th which denounced the presence of the U.S. Marine Corps recruiting office in the city of Berkeley, and grants public resources to protesters.

“Berkeley’s City Council has granted anti-military activists a public resource to assist in barricading the Marine recruitment office,” said Houston.  “The public right of way has been violated and our state must not stand idly by.”

Due to public outcry from its initial January vote, the Berkeley City Council voted on February 13th to rescind its action to send a letter to the U.S. Marine Corps saying they are “uninvited and unwelcome intruders” but did not address other resolutions.

The city of Berkeley is scheduled to receive approximately $3.3 million in transportation funding over the next two years from Proposition 1B.  The legislation will call for that funding to be suspended until Berkeley rescinds its January 29, 2008 resolutions.

“Under my proposal, until the Berkeley City Council rescinds its action to grant Marine protesters a public parking spot to serve a private agenda,” said Houston

Assemblyman Guy Houston represents the 15th Assembly District, which includes portions of Alameda, Contra Costa, Sacramento, and San Joaquin counties. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=scXXs4_2Ako – Code Pink barricading U.S. Marine Crops recruitment office.

Well, we warned you Berkeley. The City Council must make a formal apology and rescind its other anti-military resolutions encouraging cretins to attack Marines, or face a growing backlash.

Stay tuned: More news about measures to cripple Berkeley are on the horizon.

Hello to all my blog readers!

She's baaaaaaaaaaaaack!

Yup, I am home now from my sunny vacation in the Caribbean, where I had a wonderful time feeding iguanas, jet-skiing, taking a catamaran around the British Virgin islands, and sipping fruity drinks with tiny umbrellas. Yummy!

Thank-you Catherine Moy for keeping everyone up-to-date with your jam-crammed posts (and kick-ass blogs about the moonbats who drive us all slightly crazy!)

It wasn't easy getting home, in fact it  was quite aggravating in returning back to the mainland because of the nasty weather on the Eastern Seaboard that caused flight delays, which resulted in my family missing our connection in Miami.

Being a Type A personality, (Reese Witherspoon and I have SO much in common) so I had to bite my lip and lean into the situation.

As a result, I was not able to attend the California GOP convention in San Francisco where I was scheduled to speak on a panel about the future of Talk Radio.

My apologies to everyone who expected to see me there.

Meanwhile, my good friend Megan Ortagus of Freedoms Watch www.freedomswatch.org sling-shot her way out of the Beltway of insider nay-sayers to put her eyeballs on the ground in Iraq and has filed a report that I want to share with you.

(Actually, this is a photo of Megan's identical twin sister Morgan, who works for the State Department. Close enough!)

Reporting from a U.S. military base in Kuwait

Private Ryan is a name most Americans associate with Steven Spielberg’s Academy Award-winning picture about a fictional paratrooper from the 101st Airborne Division; his three brothers are tragically killed in WW II and General George C. Marshall orders a grieving mother’s last son to be returned home from France.

I had the privilege of meeting an actual Private Ryan today in Kuwait. Private Tim Ryan and I met over a distinctly American meal – McDonalds – while prepping for transport into the red zone of Iraq. Private Ryan will deploy to a kinetic area of operation where he will lead convoys through the rugged terrain, dealing with deadly I.E.D.s on the way, and working with the Iraqi Security Forces to protect the local population.

As we snacked on chocolate milkshakes and fries, the clarity of his conviction struck me. “I’m living my dream,” he gushed, “this is what I was born to do.”

I can confirm that life in Kuwait might not typically be described as a “dream” by most American standards.  But Private Ryan explained that his dream, not unlike many of the other soldiers I spoke with today, stemmed from a deep desire held since boyhood to serve his country in a combat zone – and make his grandfather proud.

Private Ryan told me of his family life in Southern California, proudly sharing memories of his highly decorated grandfather (two Bronze Stars and a Purple Heart) who served as an Army medic in World War II.  And he explained how his friends seemed to no longer understand him.

His most telling anecdote concerned his leave time in Orange County, California. While en route home - in uniform - he stopped in Maine and Dallas, where he was met with applause and hugs from grateful strangers who thanked him for his service.  But the reception in his affluent California neighborhood was quite different. Instead of warm, welcoming greetings, he was met with ambivalence and cautious stares.

I asked Private Ryan why the country seemed so harshly divided over the war. “Well, I think the American people are misinformed when they say they support the troops but not our war.” I asked him to define the U.S. mission in Iraq. “For me, it’s providing peace; if we leave, these gangster terrorists will destroy these people.”

I’d say Private Ryan has a better grasp of what is at stake in Iraq than all the politicians and pundits in Washington.  While policymakers talk of political reconciliation, timelines, mission changes, and war funding, Private Ryan gets to real issue and defines in stark terms the dire consequences of a precipitous withdrawal of U.S. forces from Iraq.  Early withdrawal would lead to utter chaos and a military/strategic defeat for the United States.

Private Ryan urged me to share one final thought: he asks for us all to have faith in our military leadership and in the mission. He reminded me that he volunteered for this duty and fighting for American and Iraqis freedom was his life’s highest honor.

“Megan, we’re not just kicking up a bunch of sand over here.”

Well said, Private Ryan.

Rash of attacks on Nation's Military Recruiters PDF E-mail
Written by Catherine Moy

Attacks against military recruiters and their offices are growing around the United States, spurred by anti-American anarchists who thrash the centers, assault and batter people, and intimidate those who want to serve their country.

Attackers throw rocks, chain themselves to doors, punch and kick, spray paint graffiti, break windows, yell, and generally vandalize recruiting centers across the nation in repeated attacks.

Code Pink, an anti-war group that gave more than $600,000 to terrorists’ families in Iraq, is calling for anti-military agitators to escalate attacks on U.S. Government offices where the military work with potential recruits on their futures. The group outlines ways for followers to terrorize recruiters, shut down recruiting stations and stop people from exercising the Constitutional rights to pursue their life’s goals.

Anti-war and anarchists groups have already attacked military recruiting centers in Washington, D.C., Berkeley, Calif.; Minneapolis, Minn.; Milwaukee, Wis.; Santa Monica, Calif.; Toledo, Ohio; Murfreesboro, Tenn.; Pittsburgh, Penn.; Haverhill, Mass., and New York, N.Y. This is a partial list.
“Actions by these hateful groups should remind Americans that we have a well-defined enemy living here at home,” said MAF Chairman Melanie Morgan. “This is a danger to our homeland security, and the federal government must take actions to stop the violence. Patriots are standing up to the anarchists, but it is the government’s duty to ensure the safety of its citizens and to end the mayhem.”

The anarchists are heightening violence and feed off their mob hits. They use terrorist tactics to intimidate without leaving prosecutable evidence. Here is a piece linked to the recent vandalism of a south Minneapolis recruiting center, at which two 40-pound rocks were hurled through the windows.

“One of the most effective forms of industrial or military sabotage limits itself to damage that can never be thoroughly proven – or even proven at all – to be anything deliberate. It is like an invisible political movement; perhaps it isn’t there at all. If a bomb is wired to a car’s ignition, then obviously there is an enemy; if public building or a political headquarters is blown up, then there is a political enemy. But if an accident, or a series of accidents, occurs, if equipment merely fails to function, if it appears faulty, especially in a slow fashion, over a period of natural time, with numerous small failures and misfirings- then the victim, whether a person or a party or a country, can never marshal itself to defend itself.”

Though they pride themselves on being “anarchists,” these groups are well organized and disciplined in their attacks. Once an action begins, the fervor of destruction feeds on itself and others join in. The events are not unlike attacks from packs of rabid dogs.
In a recent attack on a Washington, D.C., recruiters’ office, a group called Funk the War broke into the office using guerilla tactics. They claim to have outnumbered peace officers while vandalizing the office until “it looked like a tornado had swept through the lobby,” as they said in their own words.

This is how they described their own actions:

After many previous protests had found the 14th st recruiter “closed” at 5PM, Funk the War found them open, and the door unlocked at nearer to 6Pm and promptly exploited the situation by demonstrating to them first hand how an occupying force behaves.

After a loud commotion inside while outnumbered cops watched, recruiters finally managed to get protesters to leave-but not before literature and full-body length cardboard displays in the street window area were destroyed. In addition, hundreds more “Funk the War” stickers were plastered all over just about everything that would take them. By the time everyone was out it looked like a tornado had swept through the lobby.

One recruiter tried to grab an activist but found himself overpowered by SDS’s superior strength and numbers and had no choice but to give up!

A post at the Website from “Anarchi “ chides those who didn’t participate in the mob attack:

“So for all of you naysayers: Where where you last night??? SDS went a trashed a recruiting station what did you do?
For SdS: Awesome action, I must say it got escalated and it was pretty rad, a bunch of students who actually give a shit about something going and doing what was right to the government or should I say taxpayer funded offices of child predators in army costumes or as some might know them military recruiters! I hope SdS does more stuff like this in the future or even better stuff.

”Hopefully those dumbass recruiters will get ready to leave, after a smashed window in ‘07 and a trashed inside in ‘08 (and hopefully many more trashings) If they don’t a nice friendly warning: Pack up your crap and leave and there will be no problems but if you stay know this people don’t like you they don’t want you in their communities and they will make sure you leave one way or another!”

The most infamous attacks have occurred in Berkeley, Calif., where Move America Forward and other patriots have pushed back. The Berkeley City Council instigated further actions at the Berkeley Marine recruiting station by issuing free parking permits and noise permits to Code Pink, and passing a resolution encouraging anti-war forces to close down the offices.

The Berkeley City Council refuses to apologize to the Marines and now faces millions of dollars of lost city revenue from nationwide boycotts pushed by powerful businesspeople. Pending legislation would also take away millions of taxpayer dollars from the city for its attack on the Marines. Move America Forward will not stop pressure until the city council rescinds all three of its anti-military resolutions and apologizes to the Marines.

It is past time for leaders in the Senate and House to demand an investigation into the nationwide epidemic of attacks on recruiting stations. U.S. Attorneys should prosecute the agitators. The Constitution provides that the federal government be able to raise an Army during wartime. The escalation in attacks is not only costing taxpayers money, but they could cripple the country’s ability to defend herself. If this isn’t treason, what is?

For more information on what to do about the attacks, go to www.moveamericaforward.org.

 America-haters in Berkeley

The anti-American losers led by George Soros’s Moveon.org want to wage another battle against America this summer and they’re betting millions on it.The Washington Times rightly pointed out that this group of cretins lost $3 million last summer trying to stop Republicans and other patriots from supporting our troops and their missions.Well, alert to the left: Patriots will NOT stand down. Move America Forward has heard from thousands upon thousands of people over the past two weeks, and we are ready to go toe-to-toe with those who lead the white-flag brigade.Following is a story by S.A. Miller of the Times. I have added my own comments in between that did not appear in the story: By S.A. Miller
February 21, 2008
An antiwar coalition is retooling its message for a multimillion-dollar campaign to link the Iraq war to American economic woes. The group's leaders will announce its plan today. Americans Against Escalation in Iraq (AAEI), a coalition of liberal groups including MoveOn.org, is implementing the tactic, "Iraq Campaign 2008," after spending at least $3 million on its failed "Iraq Summer" campaign that prodded congressional Republicans to support the Democrats' troop pullout plan.

If George Soros wants to continue pouring  his money down a liberal outhouse, he has that right.

AAEI now plans to spend millions of dollars "shining a light on the cost of war and mobilizing the growing majority of Americans who oppose spending billions to continue Bush's endless war," spokeswoman Moira Mack said.

A majority of folks are more concerned that the U.S. Government spends 60 percent of our taxpayers’ dollars on entitlements instead of for our country’s protection. Spending on our troops, veterans, weapons, etc., only accounts for 20 percent of our budget, thanks to Bill Clinton who decimated the military and allowed the Muslim jihadists to kill 3,000 innocents on Sept. 11.

The group also has taken aim at the Republican presidential front-runner, Sen. John McCain of Arizona, for saying he would keep U.S. forces in Iraq for 100 years if necessary.

Sen. McCain is a real war hero. He knows a whole lot more about war and peace-keeping than a bunch of society’s losers who wear pink skirts and don’t even know how to take a bath.

The early focus on Mr. McCain likely will rekindle Republican charges that the group is partisan, criticism voiced when the summer campaign did not target congressional Democrats who opposed the proposed withdrawal.

Well, that goes without saying. If it walks like a traitor and talks like a traitor . . .

The latest campaign will highlight what the group views as the majority of Americans who want their tax dollars spent on priorities at home and "establishing real security throughout the world" instead of the Iraq war, Ms. Mack said.

I suppose Ms. Mack would like the U.S. to secure the world by sending our troops to Darfur. If these lefties are so worried about security, they should zip their yaps and get jobs so they can pay taxes like the rest of us.

"As economic concerns weigh heavily on the minds of Americans, opposition to President Bush's reckless war in Iraq continues to grow," she said. "The massive cost of the war in Iraq — hurtling toward $1 trillion — has increased demand for a strategy to bring U.S. troops home." Our troops say they want to come home – after they WIN. Let’s talk about the massive costs of welfare, then we are getting somewhere.

Our new commercial will be running this morning on Fox News between 9:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m EST time.

Move America Forward has unveiled a TV commercial demanding that the Berkeley City Council rescind the free parking spaces and sound permits it gave to Code Pink and councilmembers apologize for calling our Marines "unwanted intruders."

Until the council reverses course and corrects its anti-military resolutions, we will fight them. We will NOT stand down.

We are proud of the commercial and proud of our troops.

Move America Forward is proud to unveil our brand-new TV ad that fights back against the Berkeley City Council's campaign against our military.

Watch the ad, share it with others - please time is of the essence, and we must get this passed around the Internet ASAP!

We begin airing the ad on the television airwaves next week. So we have between now and then to raise as much money as possible to purchase airtime for the ads - they'll run nationwide (but we need financial support to get them seen enough times!)
