While the lunatic fringe group that celebrates a man who murders four police officers, 21,000 real Oaklanders who mourn their loss came out on a soft, warm Spring day to honor these heroes.

Among the saddened crowd was U.S. Senator Dianne Feinstein, no strangers to violence herself.

"Every day that they suited up for work, they knew it might be their last," Feinstein said. "They knew they were outnumbered, outgunned and, all too often, underappreciated.

"But they still dedicated their lives to the cause of public safety and justice, and, in the end, they died for it."

I was travelling eastbound on Interstate 80 this morning when I saw the five mile long caravan of officers on motorcycles and cruisers passing through the verdant hills of Fairfield, en route to the Coliseum for the services today.
So sad. Such a stupid horrible senseless ending of life for these honorable men.
I am comforted knowing that God and his angels will wipe the blood and tears from the faces of the dead.
God has welcomed our heroes home.
