We've got it all coming up tomorrow in Marin County...your final reminder that there's a cocktail party for Chuck DeVore at the Peninsula Tennis Club in Tiburon at 6:30 Wednesday evening. Chuck would love to meet and greet you. I will be there, too. Here's the invitation circulating around the 'net. Dear Friends,
I wanted to remind you about the special event being held in Tiburon with California Senate Candidate Chuck DeVore. Chuck is currently running against Carly Fiorini and Tom Campbell for the Republican nomination seeking to displace incumbant Barbara Boxer. The event takes place at the TPC tomorrow April 21st from 6:30-9pm and will include cocktails and hors d'oeuvres. Special guests will also include radio personality Melanie Morgan. I have attached the invitation in this email or you can go to the URL for event information. http://www.theelephantsclub.com/flyers/tiburon_event.pdf Chuck will be speaking on numerous topics that shape our future and will be taking questions. This will be an intimate affair and I hope you can make it.
For the past 6 years Chuck DeVore has been a California State Assemblyman serving on the Revenue and Taxation Committee, the Veterans Affairs Committee and the Joint Legislative Audit Committee. Prior to being an elected official Chuck worked in the aerospace industry for 13 years. He served as a Reagan White House appointee in the Pentagon from 1986 to 1988. As Special Assistant for Foreign Affairs he worked with Congress to advance foreign and military policy. His initiatives helped develop the Arrow Anti-Ballistic Missile program. Chuck graduated from Claremont McKenna College and served in the Army National Guard for over 24 years retiring with the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. His awards include the Meritorious Service Medal and the Army Commendation Medal among others. Chuck is also the author of the internationally acclaimed novel, "China Attacks". Chronicle Editorial Board: Endorsement interview with Chuck DeVoreAli Thanawalla Chuck DeVore, Republican candidate for U.S. Senate, met with The Chronicle's Editorial Board on Tuesday. Republican Chuck DeVore, the state Assemblyman from Orange County, is running to the political right of both of his rivals -- Democratic Sen. Barbara Boxer and Republican Senate hopeful Carly Fiorina. He revealed himself in his interview with The Chronicle's Editorial Board as a strict constitutional constructionist, an experienced military man with a strong grasp of foreign policy, and a strong believer that the government's place is the economy is to stay out of it. A "tonic" for the economy, he said, would be a reprise of the Reagan era, when President Reagan cut the size of the federal register in half.< p>Today, he says, the federal register is twice the size it was in Reagan's time.
DeVore was questioned by members of The Chronicle's Editorial Board, beginning with Editorial Page Editor John Diaz, followed by Debra J. Saunders, Caille Millner, Marshall Kilduff and Lois Kazakoff. Chronicle staff writer Joe Garofoli and political editor Michael Collier also pitched questions. To hear the interview, click the icon below. A video version with audio will replace this audio file by Thursday. Read more: http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/blogs/opinionshop/detail?&entry_id=61771#ixzz0lh1HzrX7
